    Combat concerns

Howdy, I haven't played much d20 in the last 6-7 years, but I have played a lot of RQ in the last 24 - combat is indeed quicker.... usually. There are a few more rolls (i.e. dodges, parries, POW or Pers/Res saves) here and there, but depending on the number of combatants and scale, it goes...

    Armour in MRQ...

Howdy, Yeah, if armour was THAT restrictive with respect to your fighting skill, it would rarely be worn.... I think that armour should affect ENC and fatique, initiative/SR, as well as some physical skills. Affect combat skills? Perhaps only as a result of fatique/ENC. The MRQ armour ENC...

    Armour in MRQ...

Howdy, Does the 'Arms & Armour' book go into more detail about armour, options, etc.? Does it go into more detail about types (bezanted, etc.)? I still use RQIII, but it would be nice for people new to RQ to have more options. Ken

    Missing Lankhmar Module....?

Howdy! Thanks for the link! I couldn't see it on their release schedule anymore, and wondered what was going on. Thanks, Ken

    Missing Lankhmar Module....?

Howdy, Wasn't there a Lankhmar adventure (something like "Swords Against Death" SRP= $9.99) slated to come out this month? I saw the release blurb and the cover, but now it is nowhere to be seen. Any idea what happened? Ken

Armour skill penalties for Arms & Equipment Guide

Howdy, ...Yeah, I am just not buying such a steep combat skill penalty for wearing armour. Obviously wearing armour should affect Strike Rank and fatigue/ENC, but such a drastic effect on fighting skill does not make sense (I know we hashed this out in the other thread on the board). Ken

    Fatigue and encumberance in MRQ

Howdy, I am just about to switch over (kinda-sorta) from RQIII. My thinking so fa -- I will ignore the armour penalties to skills, and just do a straight minus-ENC (or some fraction of ENC) to all dex skills and fatigue rolls (but not combat skills - I'll let fatigue do that). For swim, I'll...

    Fatigue and encumberance in MRQ

Howdy! How do y'all find the MRQ Fatique and Enc rules working? I had a shock over the lower weights on the armour, but then they have that goofy penalty on all actions. Do the Fatigue and Enc rules work for you? Do they seem realistic, or of suitable flavour? Have you had to modify them...

    Basic Combat Question....

Howdy, Interesting points.... I do think that the skill penalties associated with armour as it stands are a bit ludicrous. Visit Leeds, and re-enactors will do cartwheels in full plate kit. :) Some penalty for certain skills (swim, anyone?) make perfect sense, but the whole idea of armour is...

    Basic Combat Question....

Howdy, One of the questions that I missed... Is *anyone* using the -40% called shot to avoid armour? That seems like a real combat-breaker to me on first pass... Ken

    Basic Combat Question....

Howdy, I have a few questions about the new MRQ combat system... (I have run/played RQ II/III for 25 years, so I am having a little trouble getting used to some of the new concepts!) 1. Are y'all using the rule where if the attacker misses and the opponent fails their dodge/parry, the attack...

    Is RuneQuest Broken? Here's Why...

Howdy, It was nice to play some RQ at GenCon last weekend, as well as pick up all the new stuff (VERY nice to see 3rd party RQ stuff again!). We had a blast, and we are all RQ vets of 25 years. HOWEVER, we can't play RQ as-is at home. Some of the weapon damage is absolutely surreal (Longbows...

    Criticals/Fumbles...

Howdy! Are criticals/fumbles in the game now? How about specials? Did they just do a 10% sepc/crit chance ala Stormbringer, or do they use a 5% and 20% threshhold? ARE there still criticals/fumbles in the game? ....Because this -40% penalty to avoid armour protection has me a bit worried...

    4th preview is up

Howdy, Well *I* am still buying the new RQ sight unseen.... The "new" fatique system is basically the same one from RQ4 (which never really saw the light of day). It works fine. As the new RQ is supposed to be Open, use the RQ3 system if you don't like the new one, or wait for a new...

    Preview 2

Howdy, Yeah, I am a little worried about some of the damage listings (2d8!?!). Indeed, they are easy enough to change, but the core game should have a firm foundation without relying on alterations out of the gate. Another concern is the -40% chance to AVOID A DEFENDER'S ARMOUR. Wow, did...
