How many sand canisters can a firmpoint hold?

I believe it is a typo, as the core rulebook says 20 in a sandcaster. The core rules say different things than High Guard for both missiles and sandcasters. (Core rules say 12 missiles/20 sandcasters per turret, while High Guard implies its per rack/caster, not per turret.) The core rules make...

How many sand canisters can a firmpoint hold?

If you go strictly by the rules, then its the same as a normal turret. As you noted, the rules don't give a reduced number like missiles do. It would be fair to say that if missile firmpoints hold 1/3rd as many missiles, then a sandcaster firmpoint should hold 1/3rd as many barrels (so 6...

Implications of the Firmpoint to Turret conversion rule

It should take 5 tons, yes. But the rules don't seem to say whether or not the firmpoint single turret or barbette actually does take up space. It should, however. The rules say 2 things. The core rulebook says a turret with one or more missile racks holds 12 missiles. High Guard says a...

    Travel times question

The table in my copy is only mostly correct. The last few entries in the 4g column are copied from the 3g column. IF I remember right, 1e had the same problem. They just copied and pasted an incorrect table.

Implications of the Firmpoint to Turret conversion rule

I never said that range bands were only for firmpoints? The changes firmpoints make for ranges are based on range bands. Missiles don't have range bands. Therefore, missiles aren't affected by the range limitations for firmpoints. I don't know the range either. But it should be clear that when...

Implications of the Firmpoint to Turret conversion rule

Surely you can see the part on the weapons table that says Range: Special? And that the missile table doesn't list a range band, but a Thrust score instead? The only limitation on missile range is found on page 161 of the core rulebook. Missiles have 10 rounds of fuel. Whatever it can reach in...

Implications of the Firmpoint to Turret conversion rule

That doesn't work with game mechanics. They aren't always the same. Besides, real world aircraft would fall under the vehicle creation rules (which don't limit the number of weapons), not the spacecraft rules. Also real world weapons would all be ground-scale in Traveller, which has their own...

Implications of the Firmpoint to Turret conversion rule

Common sense should apply. Do you really think it was the intention for a 99 ton craft to mount 9 missile launchers when a 100 ton craft can only mount 3? The rule are badly written in some places. A small craft fixed mount hold a single weapon, not 3.

    Updated High Guard Ships

They can. Unless there was an update, the book (At least my copy) says the referee might want to restrict those upgrades with spinal mounts. It doesn't outright forbid using those upgrades with spinals.

    High Guard - Errors?

If you look, that should be the same for all the medium and large bays. But large bays have additional rules:

Any Updates on Belt Mining? I Have Many Questions

Unless, you know, he is the referee. Which it sounds like he is. If something is included in the books, it should work. You shouldn't have to ignore it and make something up. That just makes those pages a waste of space.

    Ship Design Philosophy

The Vehicle Handbook has an anti-missile system on page 49. It includes a minigun and gauss version, and also doesn't indicate that it only applies against ground-scale missiles. In theory, it applies against spacecraft scale missiles as well. At the very least, it shows that more than lasers...

    Which armor reference

It should. Both because it is the more recent book, and because it is specifically about vehicles while the core rulebook is more general.

    Fessor Cargo Multipurpose Ship

Near the beginning of the core rulebook, you find this: Note that is specifies that you do so when asked to, not always. You only round when told to, and even then it usually specifies rounding down or up. There are no rules about rounding armor tonnages, so you don't round them. (I did a...
