Zhodani Language

I know that officially the Zhodani language is variously described as Zdetl or Zhdant, depending on your source.

But what woke me up screaming with laughter this morning was the idea that the straight-laced Zhodani, with their "culture of total honesty," were in fact the biggest trolls in the universe, with the best poker faces you ever saw - and back home behind the lines, the incomprehensible language they actually spoke to one another was Welsh.

Oh, the Traveller dreams I have some nights ...

One of scenes that stayed with me from the Book of the New Sun, was when the protagonist had the words of a Soviet surrogate translated for him while hospitalized; using the language of ideology superficially, and as it appears the only means he could express himself, the underlying message and meaning came across quite clear, once someone explains it to you, sort of like the now ironic but which I believe is now banned Chinese meme, America is to blame for (disaster/accident/controversy).

This sort of wars with Orwell's Newspeak, without considering Darwin.
