So far I have 20 mi from the Box set, 16 bugs, 3 hoppers 3 ape suits and a chicken hawk.

when the local supplier here in Tasmania gets the Tankers in i am getting 3 of them.

Wish list:

Mi
2* boxes of Sprites
2x boxes of wasp troopers
at least 2x boxes of femal cap troopers
3x boxes of MI Troopers
2x heros ( I like sniper rifles and the nuke trooper)
3 Tac fighters
3 vikings
2 Skyhooks
3 Chas
3 maybe 4 reliant sets
I am a big fan of vehicles.

Bugs
4x plasma bugs (1 for display, 3 for play)
4x tankers
another 48 Warriors
12 more hoppers
15 blaster / blister
2 brain bugs

This list is just from things released up until november. My big problem is not paying for all this, it is how in frequently the local stockist receives stock.

We still do not have either the brain or tanker down here, so this list could take me until next year to collect.

Currently I've got 51 warriors and 3 hoppers (and a heck of a lot of cardboard counters)

Assuming the price of oil will drop or I can get a second job, I'm planning on the following:

105 Warriors
30 Hoppers
30 Blisters
30 Blasters
30 Firefries
30 Ripplers (hear they'll be in the Bug army book).
3 Plasmas
3 Tankers
3 Brains

Which brings me to a question that's been "bugging" me for a while....

Why do these mini makers keep packaging their minis in odd amounts that require you to buy multiple squads just so that each squad can be maxed out?

Warriors are 15 to a unit. But they come six to a box. Even in the box set you get 20, so to get a full squads of 15 without wasting minis, you have to buy an inordinate of boxed sets. Same with the hoppers. 10 to a unit, but they're sold in groups of three. :? So I have to buy four boxes to a unit of 10, but then I have two left over! Why not charge me more and give me 5 to a box? Or charge less and give me two!

I noticed MI coveniately come 8 to a box! What's up with that?!

Sorry. Didn't mean to rant, just wondering what they're thinking?

Holy overkill!! Grumbleduke!

That is just too many models. There is no way you could even fit them on a table, even two tables. In our most recent game, we ran it on a 6 by 4. It was a deep defence game. A 40 warrior wave would cover the table from one end to the other. I have found that on a 6 by 4, 80 warriors is about all that can fit. Sure you have tunnel markers and nest and such, but even then it would be a tight fit.

You will find a maximum of about 6 to 12 hoppers is all you will ever need. Any more is just easy points for the MI player.

As for the other troop types. I feel a tanker or three is a must, and more than one brain bug is a waste in points. (Plus the brain bug is one god awful model to put together). Blaster/blisters maximum of 10 to 20, and Firefries eithier in a large numbers or a unit of 10. If you go with lots of firefries then go light on the blaster/blister bugs or not at all. Firefries are a easy kill. Screen them with your warriors, same as you would the hoppers.

Sean

Can't say about ripplers, will have to wait.

I have 1 box set and a bunch of proxys that I have made with rubber bugs from a Party store and 5 hoppers that I made too....

My friend that I play with has
1 box set
2 bugs boosters
1 MI booster
1 hopper booster

Soldier,

My best friend and I generally play on an area of floor around 8' x 10'. We've been playing larger games since Rogue Trader. Ever since the SST movie came out we've had visions of recreating the Whiskey Outpost scene. We came close to doing in 40K, but for some reason, the Imperial Guard would always outnumber the Tyranids unless we used the endless swarm scenario from second edition.

Also, we never really play the game for point values. We generally play either objective based games or meat grinder type scenarios. We only use the point values to measure the strength of each force. We've been using cardboard counters to represent the units we don't have minis for yet. Our last game was just shy of 6,000 pts.

The plan for the three brains is to serve as protection for the three plasmas using shield. Also allowing me to have up to six extra actions to spread across the army allowing the plasmas and tankers to get off extra shots. Three units of hoppers ensures that I seize a flank and still have a hit and run unit to harrass his back lines. I don't screen my hoppers. I hold them in reserve and bring them in under the flight rules. By the time they are on the field, the MI are usually being threatened by my blasters and blisters. Last game, my hoppers, tanker, and plasma each accounted for over 3x their point value in kills. My blasters and blisters would have faired better but it was my first time using them and I got their rules mixed up. Sent the blasters against the M8s and the blisters against the MI. Granted, the MI didn't stand much of a chance, but the blasters were just wasted.

I will take your unit adjustments under advisement as I work to find a force that works with my style of play.

Mr. Evil,

Touche and color me red for forgetting that!
Although, since one of my sprues was missing a part, technically I did get 5 in a box!! Just give me 10 warriors in a box for $35 and I'll be happy.

well as for my collection-

32 Warriors
6 Hoppers
1 Tanker
16 Custom spider mine bugs

21 MI
1 Marauder
1 Chicken Hawk

I got the wierd numbers for warriors because of my conversion style i only get 16 per 20

so I plan to eventually add another Tanker, 2 Plasmas, 1 Brain Bug, and Ripplers... Ill custom make myy own blister/blasters from warriors... No firefries.

as for MI, another Marauder, and drop ships, possibly 2, as well as skimmers

ill probablly collect the robot race when it comes out- if its done right that is-

Arachnids
1 Brain Bugs
2 Tanker Bug
80 Arachnid Warriors (roughly 3 squads of 6)
12 Hopper Bugs
10 Firefries

Mobile Infantry
2 Ape Marauder
2 Chickenhawk Marauder
24 CAP Troopers
Heroes of the Mobile Infantry
1 set of female CAP Troopers
1 CHAS

Skinnies
3 Skinnie Raiders
3 Skinnie Militia

Most of what I plan to pick up depends on what I can find when I get to Gen Con. I would love to pick up 1 or 2 plasma bugs. 2 to 4 boxes of the Blister/Blaster bugs. 1 or 2 of the WASP troopers and 1 to 2 boxes of the gun platforms. In a perfect world I would even buy more tankers, hoppers, warriors and at least one more brain bug. However that’s a lot of money and I only have two people in my area to play with on a semi regular basis.

However (As I’m sure most of you have noticed) some of that may not be possible. While Mongoose originally posted that the Plasma bugs would be offered at Gen Con, they were left off of the latest ‘Goodies that will be at the con’ list. We’ll just have to see what’s available by the time I get there.

Have fun with it, Grumble.. Beware of the Arachnid Army book comming out in the end of the year. While I have not idea what will be in it. There could be a limit on some of the models. I have a feeling brainbugs might be limited to one. Just a feeling.....

add 3x Skinnie Raiders, a Chas & a Brain Bug to my collection.

Definateley gonna get another Chas or three...

I'snt there allready limits on model amounts depending under which priority level you are playing at? :), of course PL 3 is pretty much infinite for most of the bug models.
The rulebook mentions more than one brainbug on a single planet allthough I'd prefer one to a planet/brain bug model limit anyway.
Haven't built mine yet (figure I need some concrete or something, the first metal Mongoose mini I bought & it was Awful) but would consider getting another one just for some more chariot bugs.

So far my armies stand like this:

Bugs:
60 Warriors.
6 Hoppers
2 Tankers
1 Brain Bug (on Order)

MI:
32 MI
8 Female MI
1 Chicken Hawk.

I plan to add a couple of Plasma bugs and maybe a third tanker.
Not sure on firefries (they just dont look right to me in my opinion) also not sure on blisters and blasters, im sure there great but there not at the top of my list.
For the MI I would like to add a few of the flying units so I can do a 'Black Hawk Down' style of game and maybe another Chicken Hawk.

I will only list the painted miniatures....

12 warriors vs. 1 MI with a Morita (Poor Bastard!)

I plan on painting more.

Don't forget, Mongoose has added the ability to buy just the chariot bugs if you buy directly from them. I think they kind of had to since they were selling Brain Bugs at Origins with limited or no Chariots.

thanks for the info :) more Chariots is Good.

New Swars stuff out but I managed to pick up another Chas & a set of GF9 templates (1st pack) :)
