Hey guys, I've been lurking around on here for a little while. Got in to the game a little late.
Anyway, I have nobody to play B5 with, which sucks, so I played a game with myself, my first.
Cent Octurian vs Narn G'Vrahn (P&P spec), Annihilation, no fighters, no special actions
It went really good, the two ships were well matched. The narns won for set up, but lost for 1st turn. Both ships advanced, with the oct being just out of range of the heavy laser. It was still with in range of the e-mines, and they drew a quick first strike on the oct. The cent kept winning inititive, and managed to stay just off the bore sight laser, but they had to weather another unopposed round of narn fire, which continued to knock off damage. Then, the oct got within range, and unleased battle lasers along the g'vrahn's hull, damaging it a bit, but mostly stratches. The two massive ships then closed within secondary weapon range, and the oct's true power started to show. After suffering a good deal of damage from the narn's e-mines and mag gun, the matter arrays and ion cannons started to just shread the hull of the g'vrahn apart, which gave me my first critical hit, a -2 speed penalty. The two ships danced around each other for a long time, the oct managing to win inititive and stay off the beam of the g'vrahn, letting its secondary weapons bring the narn ship to dangerous damage levels, while suffering only light damage in return. Finally, the narns were just barely hanging on, their ship shot to pieces around them. An engine critical forced them into crippled statis and slowed them down. However, the drop in speed was exactly what they needed. By this time the g'vrahn was at 2 damage and oct was down into the low 20s on damage, when a pulse cannon shot ripped into the bridge of the cent ship, disabling their command facilities. This single shot turned the game around. The narns won the inititive finally, first time since the set up. This forced the oct out in front of the g'vrahn, turning to port to destroy the narn ship once and for all. The g'vrahn however, was able to line up the bore sighted heavy laser. The laser cannon fired with deadly precision, doing 27 points of damage between solid hits and a LOT of criticals, including a reactor explosion, before fizziling out. The oct was cut in two, with the reminites drifting forward before detonating at a safe distance from the heavily damaged g'vrahn. The remaining 11 crew from the oct who made it to their life pods were recovered by the narns and executed for war crimes.
It was a great game and I learned a lot. I'm going to try the training scenario next, the two vorchans and the hyp one. The models are just about finished and ready to go. Then I'll introduce some special actions, and finally fighters to the game. Then more and more ships. Its fun on the bun this game.
