I know that Traveller character sheets are relatively common. I've designed yet another one, and with my first post on this board I will share the sample with you.

It doesn't use either Optima or Univers, but I've tried to keep in line with the clean ethos of the LBBs.

The PDF comes in both form field and blank varieties for your computer and pencil pleasure.

The 10% grey boxes print out without using an overly large amount of ink, and by doing that the lines are white, which is much less obtrusive than the tradional black line on white.

If there's any demand for this, I will make an effort to make it available.

I also have some subsector forms in the same vein.

Welcome to the boards Kashirigi!

Nicely done - though I must ask how it appears printed on beer mats and used napkins? Readability not being an issue, of course!

(P.S. - I've seen a lot of 'professional' forms, nowhere near as functional mind, but with the same color and shading scheme... would love it more if ubiquitous orange could be replaced with another!)

That's a bit surprising. I've never seen any forms with those colours before. Over here it's all blue and green. I quite like orange and it's sadly underutilized here, so orange it became.

It would be trivial to replace the colours, though, but sadly not through a selector in the PDF, unless they now have switchable layers.

Do you have a colour preference?

Terrible partial to the periwinkle blue!

Sorry, couldn't resist that quote from Snatch! (have no idea what periwinkle blue actually is) - if you entertain this notion I'd suggest another poll or just multiple files, since colors are such personal things!

Seriously, please don't go changing on my account (I can change it myself with almost no effort). Javascript and PDFMark, IIRC, would handle this when done from scratch, but I doubt its supported in any GUI design program.

Historically, blues (ir-reproducible blue esp.) and greens did not copy well - so almost all the internal U.S. government forms I've dealt with used orange and light gray shading. Just finished reproducing a rather hideously laid out one - hence the silly impromptu comment.

BTW: Really like the little details - ala the TAS Use Only block and the Ident note. Only thing that really stands out technically, is 'Educational Attainment', which doesn't quite match what skills represent. Unfortunately I'm at a loss for a better (sans 'Skills') - Experience and Qualifications, maybe?

Anyway - its an awesome job - thanks for offering to share!

That looks awesome!

It would be greatly appreciated if you share your creation with us!

I will use it AT ONCE on my next session!

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Periwinkle_%28color%29 - HTML color code is #CCCCFF, and it looks like this

Just so it's known that I can listen to criticism:

1. I've change "Educational Attainment" to "Education & Training", which is a suitably bureaucratic phrase which covers just about anything.

2. I had a look at Acrobat and it supports layers. (View/Navigation Panels/Layers). Now the form can be orange (my personal favourite), red, green, blue, purple or black. And you can switch off the grey if you want, but the starburst is also grey so that's gone too.

3. It is available in fillable and non-fillable forms. There needs to be two forms, because the automatic mass calculator will print "0.0" if the form is unfilled.

4. You can download it now. Please feel free to distribute it in whatever manner you choose. The server in my living room is not the most stable of platforms.

5. Don't complain about the page layout. This is the only traveller thing I am currently distributing, so I am not installing another CMS (yet). I suppose I should get my Traveller paper model collection up there, but don't hold your breath. I think most of them are floating around somewhere, but they look terrible compared to my new stuff anyway. But I digress.

6. Please feel free to let me know if you have any problems with the files.

Spectacular job - Thanks!

Your living room server seems to be working pretty well - and I like the clean web page layout, myself! :D

You just over delivered one of the beast characters sheets in the last decade of rpgs.

I've seen many, and this is top-notch. The layer's and fallible option are very clever neat thingie!

Good job! :D I'm already printing few for today's session! Will report back player's feedback!

Yep - great character sheet. I will be using these when I start a game (I'm the GM) towards the end of the month.

One slight issue (which doesn't matter for me or I guess nearly anyone else). The "Service History" heading isn't on the Headings layer but the Text layer.

Green or purple for me looks nicest.

Can't download it - I suspect Kashirigi has gone to bed... or people have crashed his server downloading it... :)

Thanks for making it multi-coloured - for one thing it allows GMs to put colours on important NPCs, PCs and leave the rest of the NPCs black (I assume since I can't download it) to save colour ink/toner.

I only had a brief look earlier and immediately voted for it... wonderful job.

Yep got it now... thanks!!!

Tried earlier and it just timed out - not to worry...

One question - does anyone know how to get around the "cannot save data entered on this form" problem? It would be nice to save the characters before printing...

Ah, good possibility you are using Adobe Reader (free) on windows... Adobe generously removed this capability some time back from their free offering (along with tiled printing).

Other programs are available for free - I highly recommend PDF Xchange from http://www.tracker-software.com/product/pdf-xchange-viewer.

They have a lot of install options - including a portable version. Its very stable, very feature rich - including annotations and forms support - and very lean. They call it a trial or demo - but that is only if you chose to buy a professional version - the menus even let you turn off the time limited demo features. It also doesn't badger you with updates and open wonderful intrusion holes into your network enabled time bomb (i.e. web connected OS). ;)

Nice work Kashirigi. Even though I have Acrobat 9 Pro and CS 5.5 Deluxe, graphic arts are not in my skill suit and I'm having to learn that large skill curve all on my own, so I'm still stuck using MS Word/Powerpoint to make my forms and then use Acrobat to make them fillable.

Since you're new to the forums, let me introduce you to the UNofficial elist supporting user made stuff for Traveller (Mongoose, Chthonian Stars, T/S)... MGT-Aids @ YahooGroups (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MGT-Aids). I run it and you are welcome to (and encouraged to) upload your great character sheets into the MONGOOSE TRAVELLER files area (the folder for character sheets).

You will also find lots of stuff made by others on these forums and on the list hosted there.

It's back up now. I am having server issues, unrelated to the traffic volume. It's a nasty hardware problem.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

I'm not sure I will have time to fix the mislayered heading until next week. Unless I can squeeze it in tonight.

Thanks for letting me know.

---------

I have managed to fix it. Please re-download if the layering error bothers you.

Also, I fixed the tiny typo at the very bottom of the page. Who knew "TM" was so hard to spell. Or is that "spelll".
