It has been quite a while since I updated everyone, so I thought I'd go ahead and post some hot news happening with Traveller AR (the iPhone Space MMORPG to be released in just a few short weeks [we hope]!!!!).

All that looks good to me, I just picked up my iPad2 so I could play this on a big screen lol. Is there going to be a HD version for the iPad's as on some iPhone games and apps pumping up the screen size results in a pixelated look kind of effect. I also hope the beta is soon, like I said its looking good.

Looks like any average space game that has been done but just given the Traveller name and ships. In my view the space combat looked pretty lame. And that alterate reality thing where you can hold the phone up and see spaceships in the real sky above you - its just a gimmick that would get boring real quick I think.

True Traveller space combat/trade/exploration is far more interesting than that game portrays. I guess when you take all the technical details/designing/dice throwing/player interaction away that is the game you are left with and its not looking great to me.

If you put any of the original Privateer, Frontier Elite or Wing Commander PC games on Iphone or Ipad and they would all be far better than that. I really don't know why these old games aren't resurrected I would play them again in a shot and it would give me a definite reason for buying an Ipad. While at the moment there are no reasons for me to buy an Ipad.

There will be an HD version for iPad... I'm not sure about the launch timing yet (it might be after the SD resolution is released).

What can I say? I hope you are wrong We've been working hard on this game for many years and we think it's going to be awesome!

You are right, it won't be as good as sitting down with your 4 best friends and playing pen&paper... (no game can compare to that)... but we think it will be a fun game to play when you "can't" sit and play traveller with your old friends!

By chance which version put you off?

the FB App only asks for the miminum of FB.

Perhaps if it came out as a first person game with better graphics etc on the PC I would be interested but that would obviously be a whole different kettle of fish, and it would have to have something radically different to offer from Elite and the X games other than just the Traveller name and official ships. Cant say it wouldn't be neat to see a scout ship up close and get on it etc but only a PC game could offer what I would like to see. Played loads of Spectrum games like this years and years ago, would rather see the early PC games like the ones I mentioned resurrected rather than Spectrum-type shooter games.

I honestly wish you well though with your game release as any new Traveller development of any fashion is a good thing.

EVE Online? SO you can handle 40k+ people online in the same instance, on both PCs and Macs? Full supply and demand driven market? Cool...

Sorry I won't be able to enjoy it - I basically refuse to enter another monopoly so won't touch the Apple products - it's bad enough having to use Windows to run my PC games, but at least the hardware is a free market, as is my tablet (Android).

Wish you luck though - and good luck affording those RAMSANS - I heard that CCP spent a (not so) small fortune on those back when I played EVE-O (that was a few years ago now though).

Hopefully it will take off and you'll be able to expand...

(Not sure I'll be eager to spend hours flying in from 100d to and from the jump points though...) :lol:

It's probably for the best that there's no Android version, or my wife would *never* get to use her Thrive again.

Eagerly awaiting an android release as well. I doubt my kids will let me steal their ipods or iphones long enough to play this. :?
