In a 5pt raid game?

This takes up a whopping 4 raid pts, with the 1pt left I'm thinking of taking 3 Torothas, which are there for inititive sinks. They may help finish off any enemy ships that are not much of a threat.

If I can enter the Sharlin via Hyperspace I will try and place it as far away from the Torothas, which will be used in this case as a mis-direction.

I'm still trying to get to grips with how to use the Minbari fleet... the Earth Alliance player in me keeps engaging with the enemy for some short ranged fire fights.

hmm that sounds like a nasty plan. Though the common tactic with a hyperspace strike is to do the bomb, drop them real close to capital ships etc. though one could see the point with dropping well out of his range and gett up behind him.

I've tried that before, but now with the scatter for Jump points it tend to be either out of arc or out of range... leaving the Sharlin too close to the enemy for it's own good.

I was thinking of taking a Leshath just for it's scout ability, but then it's only one ships so not much of an inititive sink, but means the Sharlin dosen't have to do CAF to get the most out of it's Neutron Laser.

Very true, last game I played I had a Sharlin take out 4 skirmish enemy ships... think it was 2 per turn. It will be ganged up on, hence it jumping in away from the enemy fleet with their aft to my fore. This should in theory give me a few turns to level out the numbers through sniping with the Sharlin, until the enemy have turned around to handle the Sharlin. My aim with this is to keep the enemy at Neutron Laser length for as long as I can. It has been my experince that a Sharlin is quite a tough ship to take out of the game.

Torotha's are always going to die easily, such is life... only way I can think of them lasting a bit longer is to use the special action APTE to get out of harms reach.

D'oh so it is, for some reason I thought they where Patrol (wishful thinking). Might take a Leshath instead, gives me better stealth, plus Scout ability and an extra flight of Nials.

Tried the Teshlan/Sharoos fleet combo against Tanks Early EA fleet and got walloped

I said this in line I startedsomewhere, but I wouldcomend 2 tinashis it gives you greatr firepower and another unit.

If you want to use a Sharlin in such a sitation--where it is likelyging to get mobbed (and you oppnent doesn'tobject), use the Ingata fromS&Por Armageddon--givesyou Neutron Lasers all round.

I hae found a very efective Minbari fleet to be 2 tinahis (that may ormay not be squadroned) and an Ashinta fro an initiative sink.

With that set up I have only lost 1 out of 5 games (and that was when both my tinahi's got boresighted by marthons and each got a crit that left it 0 speed on turn 2--Mrathon's CAFing Hull f ships inside 8" was ugly).

I took a Marathon and 3 Chronos against a Sharlin/Lesath combo, got my ass handed to me on a plate. 4 Dead EA ships later, i had done, in total about 30 points of damage to the sharlin, nothing else.

That's what _I_ like to do. Get straight into range with white stars and behind him. Poor EA(my main opponent) doesn't have manouverability to get around easily and doesn't even have that much of long range firepower to outrange improved neutron lasers of the white stars.

Victory from hyperspace is just plain rude!

nice report, BUT....

I would strongly suggest that any playtest or mythbust sort of game be done over at least 2 or 3 battles as 6-6 crits tend to have a way of skewing the results quite alot. Still if you take the myth as 'its unbeatable' then its a fair point, but personally I think Sharlin + Leshath can be a very nasty combo still (though its far from a gaurenteed win imho, even pre armageddon)

Of course... it is a dice game... anything can happen
But in that battle, neither side was particularly lucky or unlucky. "Lucky crits" are not really as lucky as people make out, if you maximize your chances to beat stealth, maximize your number of hits, you are bound to get a fair few crits and at least some of them would be good ones.
