Would you buy prepainted minis on ebay

I would have no objections of buying gear off o ebay painted or not, but not seen a lot of painted stuff about sad to say.

What do you guys use to strip the paint/primer off of already painted minis? I've tried Simple Green, and a) it takes days, and b) It doesn't do that great of a job anyways, requiring much scrubbing with a bristle brush.

Simple Green for a couple of days and then an electric toothbrush with stiff bristles. May need to use a pick for some of the cracks to get it all. I've left stuff in it for days/weeks without any ill effect on the minis.

I use Easy OFF! oven cleaner.
It reeks and its probably not the safest stuff in the world - but it certainly works well.

One of the best paint strippers I've found is Castrol Super Clean. Purple stuff, biodegradable. Soak for 8-10 hours, and take it out and paint comes off in one huge slough. It will dry the heck out of your hands, though, so wear gloves. Safe on metal and plastic, and even the few resins I've tried, though it will soften the resin for about 12 hours after you take it out, but seemed to recure just fine.

I'm another one of those seeminly vanishing breed of gamer that likes to paint his miniatiures. So, the only way I'd buy painted on eBay is if they were significantly cheaper than new, or were OOP minis that I really wanted.

Acetone-free nail polish remover works wonders in as little as 10 mins. I would highly recommend it for Metal mini's.

It will work on plactics but you have to keep checking them every 5 mins... otherwise they go a bit... floppy. (had to rebase a squad of space marines due to time consuming incident invloving a lunchtime burrito)

no idea what will happen to resin minis, sorry, i know dettol is my friends go to product for resin gundam parts.

Sure, if done well and fair price...why not...save a bit of time. Otherwise, if I need the mini and it's fair price I can strip the paint and start over.

For me the painting and modelling is often more enjoyable than actually gaming - though that may be partly the lack of gaming in my life at present. So for me I only buy painted if I know I can strip it and repaint it A) the way I like and B) to fit the rest of my army theme/paint scheme.
However, I do a number of people who will happily buy prepainted and it can make a more interesting army look in some cases, having distinctly differently painted groups within your army.

Cleaning-wise, Dettol, ordinary, neat Dettol - it's the concentration of Chloroxylenol that does it. After 24hrs the model is almost guaranteed to be stripped of paint and often the glue will be weakened if not undone too, with no damage to the model (unless it is a Warmachine base, or a GW Finecast model - don't do it to these  ).

Ive already sold off my federation fleet. im currently out of town but when i get home the klingons, romulans, gorn and zninti will go on the auction block.
