I have a problem with MMO's...
As an amatuer 3d animater and a guy who has done some programing and a guy who took some computer classes I can tell you that if they are charging you 1 buck a month to play they are ripping you off. A free MMO though, thats a whole new can of worms. My wife-to-be would be the one with a problem with MMO's :D

1) The running costs for most MMOs is way WAY more than just animating some stuff and programming a few things. As someone who works in the IT industry at the LOW end of the pay scale I can tell you that the cost in wages for the support technicians who keep everything running alone is massive and thats before you even factor in continuing development, hardware maintenance network service providers and so on.

2) HOWEVER: Of course theyre making a huge profit thats kind of the point! Theyre not in it for the fun of it ;). But saying you wont play becuase theyre making a profit is silly imho. Do you ever go to the movies? Do you ever buy DVDs? All those industries charge WAY more than it costs them to make stuff.

In the end the thing with MMOs for me is not whether the company is making lots of money or not its do I feel like Im enjoying what Im spending my money on. If the answer is yes then I really dont see an issue ;)

Yup... cinemas make over 3000% profit on popcorn. Yes thats 3000%. If they are charging £3 for it then it costs 10p for the product, preparation and packaging. The person serving you, gets paid more for the time it takes to serve you!

But still people buy it. Supply and demand. If you don't agree then vote with your wallet, but they won't make it any cheaper because so many people do buy it. Same goes for MMOs. Personally I hate the stuff, it tastes like polystyrene chips!

i'd most like a 4X game.

seems like the best gaunra for a B5 game since the series was always about diplomacy, strugles to stop or at least stay out of the way of the big players, and legistics nightmares that needed to be solved.

Hehe, I answered MMO and even though I play one and it is pretty much ONE too many (har har) I REALLY think we could get an AWESOME project in the MMO segment. The potential for depth pretty much outstrips all the other genre's mentioned, tho we all know that this franchise could support them all, seeing as how rich the universe is and how little exposure it has otherwise in the electronic arena. Anyway, the ability to play a character with all the possible interactions one gets in a MMO and the options for the game to have a HONKIN (southern pronunciation) flight sim model as well (a MUST) and persistent RPG elements along with some easy segues into RTS or turn based strategy (within a proper "career" in one of the many "powers that be" militaries) and throw in some good old fashioned FPS (not a huge fan personally) to allow us to walk around within the wonderful confines of down below and other areas of B5 itself not to mention the ships, planets, and myriad other locales, simply makes me want to cancel a FIVE year old subscription to that OTHER MMO I play and fork over my credit chits for this game right now. the beauty of an MMO that has been correctly developed and produced is that it CAN encompass all of the listed choices in one GIANT persistent B5 universe, in which we get to not just play our favorite characters from the fiction, but interact with them, and that to me FAR outstrips all the others combined.
