I am back working on my idea for A Uber-Empire and want to know what you think of this 1st contact idea

A 266,000 ton TL 21 Merchant Ship guarded by half a dozen or so Army Surplus 35,100 ton TL 18 Escorts with a dozen or so 4,000 Ton TL 16 Scouts to look out for trouble shows up at Tobia, after giving suitable notice of course, willing to swap their TL 17 to 19 goods for state of the art TL 13 to 15 Imperial goods and if The Imperium somehw gets the truth they will reveal that despite being 2 to 4 TL's better then The Imperium these goods have been in a museum for almost 41 centuries and that the merchant will make a estimated minimum of 3 quarters of a billion credits profit by selling The Imperiums goods to museums and private collectors of goods that are around 5 mellenium out of date by The Uber-Empires standads

So where does this super high tech empire hang out? Why doesn't it control everything in the alpha quadrant? The galaxy is only about 30kpc across and ships able to jump a mere 500pc a year (jump 10) will take only 60 years to cross from side to side. That would put administrative control of large chunks of the galaxy into feasibility.

The issue here is currency. It's like the US showing up in Somalia wantimg to trade iPhone 7s for frankincense. Both have value to each side, bit how do you make a reasonable exchange? That's where currency comes in. It wouldn't be done in local Somalian currncy, it would be doNE in dollars or euros.

The imperium couldn't do anything with the TL 21 currency and the TL21 people wouldn't want Imperial currency to take home. So all they could do is barter. At that point the valuations are relatively meaningless.

As to the age, well, if the goods are desired they have value, ergo it's not a scam. Ancient Columbian pottery is valuable to some, with less to those that don't care about it. Same goes for the future tech goods or the Imperium goods.

Some good ideas

As for Travel time I like the idea that these guys have Stargate like devices build by The Ancients that allow them to travel distances in seconds that would otherwise take at least 150 to 220 years even at Jump 6 and that they have, upon reaching TL 26 made their own that can open a portal anywhere

Also what would The Imperiums likely response to A 4,000 ton TL 16 Scoutship with shields up and weapons on standby as a precaution against Pirates or A Misjump into hostile space or both showing up and saying don't shoot we come in peace be

Also what would A Archduke say if he found out that his new goods that ranged from 29% of the way into TL 17 to 13% of the way through TL19 have been in A Museum or provide collection for between 3,946 years and 4,093 years each but due to the care given to them are almost as good as new, while The TL 13 to TL 15 goods will be sold to museums, military collectors and antique goods collectors for a guaranteed minimum profit of Cr 308,000,000 and a potential profit of amost Cr 780,000 million
