With Gaim on horizon, what race is next?

I would really like to see a Hyach and Orieni shiplist as well as something about those two for the RPG but thats another topic for another forum section.

Hyach are advanced and cool with their laser weaponry, stealth ships and automation yet they are dying so they have low numbers while Orieni are cool with their large motherships with swarms of smaller craft and remote controlled suicide fighters. Would definately like to see something from these two races.

The Hyach were one of the most advanced races in the league, but not up to the Minbari's level. But the thing to remember about the league is they are all small (the Hyach are shwon to be nearing extinction due to mistakes they made in the past in the series). The Dilgar used numbers and tactical/strategic know how. Most of the league races suffered from serious deficiencies in command and control and military leadership during the Dilgar War. The EA is made up of humans and history shows us that there are two things that we excel at, breeding and fighting.

The EA fought the Dilgar using the same basic methods as they used, and backed up be the additional strength from the league defeated them.

Yep AOG on the Hyach as well which gave the race these huge spinal lasers that had great range and all the big ships had a single spinal laser buil around them with the smallest one being the stealth ship. Was great :D

they did, in "Raiders & Privateers" back in 2000 (I was even mentioned as a playtester in that book). They were pretty boring however, simply a pirate race with a chaotic gouvernment.

I think I have a more interesting version in the making... I hope! :)

I rather llike look of the AogG Cascor and Hyach fleets in FA scale if they weren't soooo outta scale with this version I'd be tempted

I read somewhere that while the Hyach are technologically advanced their ideas about space combat were not very good. Along the lines of 'send some ships' and thats about it. Sorry I'm no good at computer stuff, (making links to sites and such) try googling 'Dilgar War:the earth alliance involvemnt'. I'm not sure how canon it is, but it makes for good reading.

If you hunt around on the site there is also some cool other stuff. I like the idea for the EAS Titans, the vorlonised warlock. It would make a neat conversion.

Remember there is a difference between "technologicaly advanced" and "aggressive". Several of the League races are more advanced than the EA, the Narn or the Centauri but they don't have the expansionist or aggressive tendencies so they never amasses vast starfleets to take nearby systems. They are simply content to exist as they are.

The Yolu are the most classic example of this. If I remember correctly they are older than the Minbari. Their ships are VERY powerful too, but the Dilgar managed to cow them and blockade them in their home system through sheer agression and bluffs. According to the old AoG fluff text, they were the one race on their path of conquest that the Dilgar actually feared but they understood Yolu psychology and they used that to trick them into a defensive posture so that they posed no threat to the Dilgar war machine.

I always liked the AoG background for the Dilgar, they were so calculating and evil. They shouldn't have been able overrun all those races so quickly but they did, through a mixture of numbers aggression and pre-planning.

The AoG Dilgar Invasion wasn't the sudden attack it appeared to be from the outside, the Dilgar put considerable time and effort into scouting out systems and learning everything they could about their targets, seeking out the weaknesses and then building a plan of attack based on that.

Like mentioned the Yolu have a tech level similar to that of the Minbari. But they have a purely defensive mind set, plus they also lack the Minbari trump card: Stealth. Had the Minbari lacked that bit of tech I imagine that the Earth-Minbari war would have been more of a war and less of walkover (The Minbos would probably still win but at much greater cost).

Presume very boresight then? :)

the old a.o.g models looked croosed between a bimith at the front and a white star gunship at the sides, and reference for the Urutha Kal Dreadnought
sugest it has lots of firepower all over it, while the Irokai Kam Battlecruiser has the spinal weopon as a boresight but still lots more all round firepower,
i think they also used hurr gunships
