Will ActA:SF follow F/C's release shedule

I know i'm jumpimg the gun big time :? , but i was wondering if this game will follow the same release pattern as FedCom did ? That started with the 2 core sets (Fed v Klingon/Fed v Romulan) plus the 'attack' extra's, then went with 'Tholian Attack' (tholian/Neo-Tholian and Seltorian) , 'Distant Kingdom's' (Hydran and Lyran) and 'War and Peace' (ISC, Andromidan and Vultor). We also have the 'Battleships Attack','Orion Attack' and 'Tugs Attacked' sets.

As i understand it the core rulebook will provide stat line/details for ships from Dreadnought to Escort size for the Big Three and Gorn (PLEASE)/Kzinti, with a few Orion, Tholian and General vessels for good measure. Do you have an idea as to weather additional Empires will be release in the order about (so that i know i can start saving now for the shed-loads of Seltoran and ISC ships i want) or did you plan to do books set around a particular area (say Hydran/Lyran, but also covering Wyn and Lyran Democratic Republic stuff).

As i said, well aware that you planning my not even have gone beyond the current stuff, but i'm going to be playing this (and FC) alot - can't wait to see a proper representation of ISC fleet tactics that don't take me a whole weekend to play though  .

Keeper Nilbog, let's get this horse out of the barn before we tackle harnessing the next one. :) I know that Matthew and Steve are talking in generalities, but nothing has been decided except there will be more to come!

Keeper, my understanding is the ACTA:SF main rules will contain all the ship stats for ships from Klingon Border, Klingon Attack, Romulan Border, Romulan Attack, and the bonus ships from Boosters #1 to #12. In other words, the ships from the first four FC products. As you say, that's most of the combat variants for Federation, Gorns, Klingons, Kzinti, and Romulans, with a few ships each for Tholians and Orions (I think three each), plus a selection of generic units used by all empires (freighters, bases). (About sixty ships including variants, I believe).

As Jean points out, the next release is currently planned for late 2012, and nobody knows what's in that yet. Any plans that may exist now will probably be changed by lessons learned from the launch, market reaction, and feedback from players.

K Nilborg - According to a post SVC did yesterday Book 2 will most likly be the rest of the Tholians an Orions, probably the Lyrans (and the Lyran Democratic Republic ) plus the WYN. Add to that a few assorted ships to flush out the exsisting 5 Empires. (Rumor has it Sandrin starts on Battleships Monday)

Thanks for the Info people. Too be fair, Jean's comment do mark my own (first book out and models, then think on next). I can see me spending FAR too much cash on ships, and was thinking on which Fleets i would target for purchase first (£75 is not too bad, unless 3 fleets turn up at once).

Gorns and ISC are a no-brianer for me, and i always liked the Seltorian ships (though don't own any).

Personally, I hope that whatever FC modules are selected for the next book (and the one after that) that the ships included in each set of books and associated boosters are not broken up; if only to avoid causing trouble with the Squadron and Border Box allocations.

The only things I absolutely definitely want in the next release are the Romulan Vulture Eagle series dreadnought (and an Eagle squadron box), the Klingon G2 (if Wyn are on the menu this will be needed anyway), for Klingons the F5W, E3, E5, E6, E7 (or at least some of them), for Feds the Galactic Survey Cruiser and a Zocchi Squadron box (which will give the crappy DN, the Tug and the Saucer destroyer).

Battleships will be great to have, but I'm far more interested in things like DNLs and smaller ships.

Gary, if they break up the minis releases and cause problems with the Squadron Boxes in so doing, I'll be Officially Gobsmacked. To do so would cause problems with FC and SF Armada as well, so I really just can't see that being done.

The E5, E6, and E7 aren't in any box set yet, so I reckon [purely unofficial Internet speculation] that the chance of them being in the very next release is next to nil. In fact, I am not even sure if there is an E6 ship in the SFU at all, at least I've never heard of it.

In fact, I reckon the G2 is the only one that's even likely to see the light of day in the next wave, because it's in Orion Attack (the cops & robbers expansion) and they might pick that as one of the ship lists to use. I'm betting that the next book will have roughly the same number of ships as the first, in the 50-60 range. FC products have about 15 ships each, so I speculate that it will be done in four-product blocks. DNLs were part of Battleships Attack, so if you get BBs you may well get DNLs and DNHs as well. That's if they bother with separate models for DNHs.

FYI: Steve has said on the other board that the Franz Joseph ships (original Dreadnought with forward-facing shuttlebay, "lollipop" Destroyer & Scout, and Fleet Tug) have to be in the same box-set due to royality fees. Ergo, I woudn't expect to see them in the mix of other ships in a box-set. Obviously, they could find another way to make it work, but I should think they have bigger fish to fry for now.
