Why does it work for text, but not for illustrations?

Hello

in every Glorantha book at the credits page we can find: Special Thanks

There we can find the names of gloranthan experts that helped the main author to get most of the details of the text in that book right.

I think it is a VERY good thing to have this cooperation between the main author of a book (no matter how good or bad his "Glorantha Lore" skill is) and these experts.

Can´t we get that cooperation in between artists of covers and interior illustrations with those experts too?

For instance: duck book preview

Page 41: This is defenitely a Samurai duck
But neither Kralorela nor Vithela are equivalents of Japan, they are more similar to China/Cathay. Japan would be Vormain.
I would have liked a Kralorelan duck (CHINESE duck - sweat/sour - ... i have in my mind "The Water Margin").

Page 61: These ducks look nothing like Dragon Pass or Kralorelan ducks. They look like Malkioni ducks (and to much advanced even for that... look at the two ducks to the right). AND one duck carries a Katana. A Japanese sword... see above.

If an AUTHOR isn´t sure about something he seems to ask the experts, which are thanked at the editorial page in return.
If an ARTIST isn´t sure how the details look like, he seems to make them up, no matter how much informations are available through only dropping the experts some questions (sometimes asking the main author of the book would do, i assume).

I am sorry for that rant, but the more books come out, the better the texts get... the illustrations are still bad, non-gloranthan, or simply wrong.

Mongoose you are on the right track with your choice of authos, but please try to give the same importance to your choice of artists / the amount of informations an artist gets.

Thank you very much

Cheers
