Why did S&P get so dull?

Greg Smith

Mongoose
I was looking through the latest S&P, having a read of the LW adventure, and I realised it was totally unevocative of Lone Wolf.

So, I looked through the rest of the magazine. Not only is the 'fun' stuff missing (quote of the month, DVD reviews, awsomometer), but there are only three illustrations outside of the adverts.

I always hesitate to complain about something that is free, but I have to say it is a shadow of its former self.

You could always write for S&P Greg, be interesting to see what you cook up. S&P does need more Conan, there's always room for more Conan.

That adventure is also part 3 of something (1 and 2 from the MPGB), so it's best looked at as part of a whole, not quite sure why Mongoose put it in S&P since it was written for the MPGB but they can do what they like in that respect.

Typical ;)

We were talking about this - we took them out because we never received any feedback that indicated people liked them.

We'll look at putting them back!

Hmm, I read them, they are fun. That said, I don't read a lot of S&P anymore, since the games I played are no longer in the Mongoose stable. So I only noticed their absence, in the absence of stuff of real intereset to me, if you see what I mean. When the mag was full of SST, B5, and ACTA articles, I wouldn't have missed the fun filler pages.

It was the lack of visual flair that stood out the most.

More importantly - where was the Judge Dredd article?! Talking of Dredd articles in Signs & Portents, I personally think interesting locales and adventure seeds are the order of the day.

Also, in S&P 79 I noticed an open day on 1st May advertised - Judge Dredd: Simpson being one of the games listed. How do I get involved?

Any pointers greatly received.

I'm confused usually you wouldn't remove something that somebody doesn't talk about. I think i would only remove something that people complained about.

I've read a lot of people complaining about articles not being in S&P and I don't see them being added. With out all the filler pages you saved almost 20 pages in the S@P that could have been used to put in more articles about Conan, Traveler, and other systems.

Just my opinion and I guess it really doesn't matter all that much.

Simply turn up on the day - it is completely free!

I haven't read S+P in a while, but those DVD articles were one of my favourites of all time, why take them out?
