Obviously being a forum people generally post about problems, house rules and advice. So I wondered, who plays the game "as is" with no changes?

Is this because you see problems but don't know how to fix them or are you just content with the game?

Please don't list all the issues cause we've got those threads already, I'm just interested in a general opinion of the overall game.

My opinion is that there are some individual problems (Shadow fighters), and I'd prefer buying down to be more expensive, but on the whole I like how it is and think any rule changes just cause problems for someone else. Resulting in a never ending cycle. Therefore at moment we play "as is" and I like it.

Started a poll, not sure if it's any use or not but heh I've never done one before so thought I'd try.

We play "as is", then whinge on the forums about things we don't like ;)

Making house rules gets too confusing when you play new people.

We play As Is most of the time - unless people indulge me to test out Darkness Rising stuff.............

However several of us have been suggesting trying out the idea for less random beams - not implemented yet - especially with 5 new players recently joined :)

And then they keep asking the same questions week after week after week. then they get a fleet and offer you only £20 ot paint it.

We are currently playing as is, until we get really good understanding of the rules in this version. Once we we get this grounding, we will make some changes.

yep, mainly as is, only change the odd thing while playing if we dont like it or mostly" you have been doing that wrong, ok ill do it the same this game to make it fair" :D

As-Is , except where we have the rules wrong :)

I think I'd need to have a lot more games under my belt (same goes for people I play with) before trying alterations/house rules.

Gradual tweaking of the rules is required if you ask me. Am Daniel aka psi corps guy incase you thought I was a stranger ;)

most of are problems I believe can be toned down by simple things I wont elaborate here it would be a long rant.

I play as-is, but I am asking my group to see if they would like to try a rule system where the weapons in B5 are basically the same.

Case in point: The Medium Pulse Cannon. Across the races, it seems to change of its own accord without regards to ship size, weapon complement, or power rating. I made the weapons similar to each other across the board. Additionally, we are considering removing boresight in order to speed up games and increase starship effectiveness.

We are a subgroup within (http://forum.morpethgamingclub.org.uk/) and we are still learning the rules, slowly introducing the advanced stuff.

Just recently, for instance, we introduced fighters.

So, basically, we are playing the rules "as is", we just haven't got around to using all of the rules just yet :)

Playing "as is" since I demo this game I must stick to the rules
but I also use a kind of gentlemen agreement (boresight in mind).
With new players come new questions but the "spirit" of the game is the red line to follow when the rule can be misread or interpreted.

This pretty much sums me up as well. Lately I have been playing more games with new players than with the guys I usually play against, so have been more interested in getting them grounded in the rules than cooking up new ones.

This said, the Vree player that I usually play against and I were experimenting with the Mech Warrior system for movement, to see how that effected play. It worked ok, but so far we have only been able to try it out in one game.

Also we tend to play it that you can't go over planets. I know it's not true to the three D nature of space, but we like the way it effects play, having to plan moves a bit more.

We play "as is" most of the time since it's easier to play outside of our own group that way.

Sometimes we try out house rules to see what we think of them (mostly so I can discuss them intelligently here).

We play "as-is"

That's the way things are. I really don't like major "house rules" changes anyway. When you try to fix one thing, something else gets "broken". Then you have to fix that. Just keep it the way it is. I just like to go according to the rules...I'm funny that way.

Normally as written, occasionally some minor changes to suit a campaign scenario (e.g. no populated worlds in a post-plague Markab system "scavenger hunt" with Clarkist EA and Brakiri, and a modified ISA list to represent the"Army Of Light"). Don't like to use major changes as play balance may well go out the window with some.
