Who has actually played a prestige class?

Just curious as to who has had their character make it up to a prestige class and how it went.

The majority of the prestige classes I think are for Sorcerers, there are 4 in the Secrets of Skelos alone, though there is also the Forest Runner and Beastmaster from Across Thunder River too...

What's your favorite class/prestige class combo?

I do want to try the scarlet circle prestige class in secrets of skelos, but unfortunately the corruption requirement turns me away. The rest seem clearly designed for unique NPC's.

I'm willing to bet a keg of stout that the only response to the actual question (who has actually played a Prc) will be crickets chirping.

I might have gone into beastmaster if that supplement had come out a year or more earlier for thematic reasons.

In general, at least for the non-sorcerer ones I've seen, I don't see any benefit to the prestige classes. They routinely suck on BAB, skill ranks, and/or both while offering excessively narrow benefits that often do pretty much nothing. This seems a good thing as it means more NPC only stuff that keeps the game under control rather than "forcing" PCs into narrow paths to abuse some mechanic.

I've cut them all off my agme. Anyway, my players don't play sorcerers, so there's no big loose there. If you wanna be a poitanian knight, just be one, no class needed for that.

What else could we expect from a Stygian Devout?

As for Prestige Classes, no one in my playing group dared to go for them for now. Most of my players are single classed, save for a Shemite Nomad/Barbarian/Thief and a Nordheimer Barbarian/Scholar Ice Witch.

I considered getting some levels in Poitanian Knight at some point but it just doesn't seem like its worth it in most ways. I think sticking with muticlassing Noble/Soldier just seems to make more sense though. The Gunderland mercenary class seems somewhat intriguing however, they seem to get some good "general" class abilities such as patchwork armor, as opposed to most prestige classes that focus on very specific abilities.

considering this game has been out for 5+ years i dont think we're in too much trouble of an avalanche of prestige classes.
