after a quick Skim... I have heard the argument that the WS have forward arc to represent maneuvreability... and I will say again, it's maneuvreability represents it's fricking maneovreability! what a silly argument!

So if my super-manouverable, spin on a dime, White Star loses initiative to your slow-ass Lumbering Omega, then I can't shoot it? Even though I am oh sooo much more manouverable? How does that work?

If we had a "follow that target" special action then I'd agree with you. But we don't. The current boresight/initiative/movement rules just don't allow for a Boresighted White Star. Giving it F is a much easier solution than fixing the boresight/initiative problem, as can be seen by the length of the debate!

it's a fleet game, target something else :-)
Such as one of the 8 Tethys that you have hiding behind a planet, acting as init sinks, and completely negating all of my INL firepower? :P

Be it resolved that people will not agree on the issue of Boresighted Whitestars;
Be it further resolved that this is viewed as a symptom of a disputed problem with the initiative system upun which said members will also not agree
Furthermore, I would like to propose a parliamentary motion to NOT hijack another thread for rehashing this #$%^&*() argument, AGAIN, and, instead return to the original subject; the conceptual WHitestar Battleship.

Would another honorable member care to second this motion? (Please?)
:D

Honourable member? You're on the wrong forum I think ;)

IMO the WS battleship is overpowered and unnecessary. The "White Star Battleship" that Sheridan wanted, was the Victory. And Locutus would have a fit if he saw the name!

IMHO a battleship doesn't fit the Whitestar concept.

Battleships are lumbering, large, death dealing monsters, which you couldn't miss.

Whitestars are fast, maneuverable.

A million buzzing insects vs an elephant. I see no reason for a Whitestar battleship. That doesn't mean ISA can't have a battleship, but it shouldn't be a Whitestar.

thats a good point. If the ISA do want a battleship, they can loan one from the Narn, EA, League, Minbari.. etc

sure i was a bit excited about the guns on it, however maybe i named it wrong, I didn't mean battleship as in something like a Omega or that sort of heavy bruiser.

I wanted to go for a ship that had "lots of firepower", sure you say the gunship, but you look at the actual stats and it not much of a gunship but rather an escort or support ship IMHO.

Just so you Know the Positron cannon is actually just a lighting cannon from the VLC, but i reduced the range in comparison to the victory.

The way I saw this ship was plunging into the enemy fleets line shooting on its way then and breaking through the other side, taking afew potshots as it increases range and then turn and try again.

I didnt want it to be able to just stay there in the middle shooting as thats against the spirit of the WS. hence no side weapons

It should of actually been 2d6 selfrepair that one was a typo.

Just one last point, in ten years they made a small whitestar into a big whitestar carrier, so after another 5 you dont think they'd finally be able to develop it more?

I like the logic.

The narn today launched their new warship, the K'ten....
soft and fluffy it is not being two kabintaks welded together..

Centauri Admiral.. - Aww wook at the wittle kitte..ARGH what the heck, BOOM

Its a bit over the top at present but adapt the good ideas on here and it may be a possibility - I could understand a reworked carrier with guns instead of fighters. :)

Here we go i've tweaked the Battleship, thinking of renameing it to something else but cant find an appropriate name yet. Also I designed a cruiser varient of the carrier see which you prefer.

please note they actually have different roles, you'll notice one has more upfront firepower while the other has more spread out firepower.

I have to say, i find a 10 dice, triple damage precise beam in a forward arc quite gross! especially when combined with the damage equivalent of a binTak plus dodge!

I prefer the cruiser by far

the cruiser is a far more balanced ship.
10AD triple damage precise is more the realms of armageddon level ships, not war level.
