which addon for world building?

What level of detail? Mongoose hasn't gone deep into that area for philosophical reasons (ie. trying to keep the complexity tamped down), so you would probably be looking at something from a prior edition.
 
World Builder Handbook is a great source for that kind of complexity. Something you are looking for in particular?
 
no nothing in particular..

just wanting to get a spaceship and go out and see what I can find..

I'm thinking lots of random encounters table and 'choosing a dot on my HUD' kind of thing and 'driving' to it and see what's going on, etc..

I need a 101 things to discover on/about a planet..

I guess I could get to work on something like that.. LOL.. it seems daunting for sure.
 
You have the Scout book yet? Lots of ideas in there. Has a survival section for various world types. The book is more about interacting with worlds.
 
Both are good, one is wholly Mongoose and the other is an adaptation of a BITS book, iirc. I was mentioning the first of the two in my post, but both are good.
 
The bottom one isn't necessarily the main one, I like them both, but I've used Starports the most, not that the other isn't useful. Personally, I'd buy starports, but I also bought them both.
