Where in the vastness of space would you like a campaign set

I've done a frontier ATU, and of course a lot of Spinward Marches.

I would like to see a TRUE frontier. As in unexplored, unsettled planets.

In the OTU with its 5000 year history of interstellar travel by humans, there is not much room for that, but something that would allow exploration of areas where humans had not gone before would be nice too.

So true.

Rimward of the Solomani was always a good place to explore IMTU.

Like I said, I have a number of maps, a couple of which I've posted elsewhere; these can easily be transplanted to rimward of the Sollies.

Given hat the Third Imperium is so vast, and that there's a few thousand years' history to play with, I'd really like to see somwhere (or when) new.

what I'm looking for is somewhere on the edge of the Imperium where there is exploring to do, there is politicking to do and the chance of things flaring up if it goes wrong. If I had everything I wanted I'd go for slightly earlier in the timeline so there is a chance of the PCs being significant players, if only locally.

However, if I'm being honest with myself, I'll take what I'm given. And be happy with it.

Cowboy, it looks like the first setting book will be the Spinward Marches circa 1105. So that may make up your mind for you.

Not really. I already have a setting book about the Spinward Marches, which should presumably be completely compatible. :)

Somewhere like the Spinward Marches, except not the Spinward Marches?

That's precisely what I want. Having done the Marches to death over the last ten years or so, I'd like to go somewhere ele. Much as i love Zhodanis and Vargr I'd like omething a bit different.

I suppose what I'm tryoing to say is that i still want spicy food, but I've eaten lot of curry and want to try...maybe...Thai?

I mostly ran games in the Banners Sector post TNE virius, a little beyond Aslan/Solomani space, or in my ATU which is currently being revised prior to a major update on my website.

One thing I would like to see done for Traveller, is when they detail out a main world that they take the time to come up with the total system(all orbits) and create a UWP for each. Heck if someone really wanted to pick a subsecter and detail out each system, now that would be awesome. Just think of all the details one could get.

It's already been done.

There are two main possibilities for my next OTU game. The first is Canopus (or perhaps the Solomani Rim) in the 1248 milieu, with the PCs' world getting stuck in the middle of the cold war between the Second Rule of Man and the Terran Commonwealth. The second is Illelish in 1137, in a universe where the Virus did not erupt (Omicron was destroyed by Dulinor's attack); Dulinor holds Capital and parts of the Core sector but major parts of Illelish have revolted against him and his over-taxation (imposed in order to finance his massive pacification campaign in the Core); a messy multi-sided civil war ensues in Illelish between the Dulinorists (headed by Lady Isis), the Lucanists (Lucan is dead, but many of his former followers are still at large), the Verge Combine and the New Illelish Republic (think Illelish Revolt take 2), not to mention smaller factions and pocket-empire-builders who use the chaos to carve out their own kingdoms.

Other than that, I am thinking about restarting an ATU of my own.

I'm looking at the Pretoria or Sabine subsector of Deneb for my next adventures. Deneb isn't as settled as it looks...

Never played but I love Reaver's Deep. It seems to have the most potential to me. Not mention being all sorts of dangerous and unstable.

I'd like the campaqign to be spinward marches based BUT with material available for the subsectors immediately surrounding the marches. This does two things:

1. The Marches sector is primarily Imperial with some other human cultures. Neighbouring subsectors (only a one or two subsector fringe is really needed) have many worlds domintated by Vargr, Aslan and Zhodani as well as more less well known territory. Makes for more interaction with other major races and allows for worlds where the major powers are fighting proxy wars.

2. It allows Mongoose to develop new material linked to the oldest and most completed Traveller background without stepping on too many toes and having to retrofit too many worlds.

So a launching point for all sorts of adventures in different settings, but with a detailed "home sector"?

The next chance I get to run any Traveller campaign... it will be in Reaver's Deep as per the Lost Supplements, set just after the FFW.

i agree on that, i would buy a mass effect setting if only to strip mine it for usefull stuff for a homebrew setting :) plus im sure bioware would be happy to let mongooose usue the licence (although maybe not till the sequal is due)
