When Demon Lords and Demon-Pacted Sorcerers collide?

SO, you've got a PC or NPC who decided to make a demon pact for power and now his/her group has decided to set their sites on taking down let's say Khostrel Khel.

If this where any other situation: bringing down a kindgom, assassinating a high priest, carrying off a princess, et al. Your demon benefactor probably wouldn't blink an eye.

But now we're talking about a whole different ball game - aiming at something so beyond the reckoning of mortals.

So, do you think that:

"The Generic Demon" pulls "Bob the Sorceror" aside and say something to the effect of "You know, we've had a great working relationship, i appreciate all those ritual sacrifices - but are you off you rocker?!"

Or if Bob is higher up on the sorcerer food chain:

"Kx'ulthuum the Demon Prince" pulls Bob aside and says "This has got to be one of the dumbest things i've ever seen you do mortal. But if you can stick it to Khostrel please do - that (insert expletive) is really annoying."

To put this more seriously: If one happens to have an otherworldly patron and one is about to go up against another otherworldly entity that may be of equal or greater status than your patron -

what would be some common responses from said patron?

Isn't this what Elric often deal with?

Arioch tends to choose from:
a. Not help.
b. Take advantage while keeping Elric alive.
c. Set things in motion in the first place.

While Conan characters aren't going to be Eternal Champions and in fact demonic pact means you are just a sucker and not on any sort of equal footing, I don't think it's unreasonable to make the assumption that the demon sees the sucker as being more useful long term for plans within plans than to bother obstructing in any way as a hand wave to see adventures proceed. May do nothing and see if the sucker proves worthy. May show up to bail out sucker and let the rest of the party live the TPK dream.
