Whats with the Armageddon Saggitarius?

Locutus9956

Mongoose
Is it just me or is it not EXACTLY the same as the tourney version despite just about everyone and his dog agreeing that said ship was utterly broken for the most part of the last YEAR?!

nope, your'e wrong... it has more dice of weapons on it...... really....
no i mean it, it's BETTER than it was in the tourney list...

No its not its got 3 less damage points!!! you hear me? 3 whole points!!!! Now thats got to make it skirmish level surely????

And that is hilarious, u gotta laugh or u would cry.

I can't wait for one of those Mongoose ACTA tourneys when a kid turns up with 10 Sagi's and kicks everybodys ass. :D

You know I think its this sort of thing thats been putting people in such bad moods lately, I don't know if its just me but when ACTA first came out and then with the rules supplements, and SFoS and the Tourney lists I felt like mongoose was listening to the feedback it was getting from us and really trying to improve the game.

But lately we've had issues like this and it seems like theyre just IGNORING their player base in an attempt to sell more stuff and make more money. I'm almost hesitant to say it but this is EXACTLY what happened to certain other gaming company some time back when they started finding they could actually make rather alot of money out of this miniature gaming lark.

I wont name them specifically but if anyone really needs it spelled ouf for them they probably havent been gaming that long ;)

Sorry but the Sagg needs some serious nerfing!

Before you start shouting, the Ka'Tan/Ka'Toc fleet can be beaten, and by a regular fleet, and has done. Where as the Sagg fleet is almost impossible, and reducing its by 3 hits. Is like taking the back plate off a Tiger, and saying "Well maybe everyone will have a chance now!"

No it is not the tourney version.

It is infinitely more powerful.

Its just fun when the next big tourney is won by a kid with the 10 sag fleet. And just sad.

Yes i know im repeating other people here. But this Sag bussiness has been known for nearly as long as the tourney version is out.....not changing it for armageddon is just weak, really weak. And they havent even put out an official answer why it slipped all the way through :S Or at least a FAQ tuning it back to normal levels......for a whole month!!!!!

*sniff* it gets people aggravated and kinda makes you lose faith a little.

actually, they kinda have. Matt does not believe it is an overpowered ship. Following the outcry from when it was revealed in the into the fire tourney PDF, Matt playtested it, and it apparantly very narrowly beat a whitestar fleet... yes yes, he took whitestars to test them against, but still, the outcome was that they do not deem it overpowered.

Actually, given that before it had more damage than crew and now it's only a 2 point difference, the 3 point drop will make virtually no difference whatsoever.

Well which is kinda even worse.

They are putting a single playtest, against 90% of the forum playerbase.

I mean there are really few people that consider the Sag to be balanced (Tank you dont count :P).

I remember that thread, and i thought matt said, that he would look into the issue again.

But still 100 missles in 2 turns on a battlefield not cluttered with terrain against a not extremely mobile enemy (90% of all tourney cases i guess) should yield different results.

Basically every battle lvl ship is gutted by such firepower. And even worse you can have a combination of a squadron of 6 Sags and 4 single Sags for ini sinking.

LOL..yeah..I wonder what the next opponent says when he gets a a squadron of the blighters against him, and they roll 36AD SAP/P! :P

I didnt say they were balanced but they are only broken when taken en masse. To me as they are is the only thing that makes playing an early era EA fleet worthwhile (Even tho I do love my Artemesis)

Or worse, AP/DD/Precice given that you can take variant missiles in tournaments again.

But I agree that the Sag is only broken when taken en masse - but that's easily fixable by making a restricted list of ships you can only take so many of in a fleet - BattleTech has done it for years.

Oh yes that playtest.... dont even get me started. In response to the many games that we have played Mongoose played a single test game against a far from 'normal' fleet (Im not saying whitestar fleet is unfair but its NOT a good testing ground) and decided based on this one game that we were wrong and they were right. Hell the Sag fleet didnt even LOSE the test game.....

If they really think its fair then I wonder how long that attitude would last if I turned up to every tourney Mongoose run from now on with a 10 Sag fleet......

drop the sag down to 2 missiles for and aft and 4 on the sides. Problem solved. Or leave the weapons as they are but drop them to hull 4. Or even give them a special rule like enemies score crits on a 5+ against them due to the loads of missiles stored all over the place. I dont know, exactly but SOMETHING must be done as it stands its just insane.

I can say right now with massive certainty that as it is at the moment, for any future events I run of ACTA, the Saggitarius will be BANNED. And that I admit will completely SCREW early EA in tourney terms, but its the lesser of two evils.
