Whats with the Armageddon Saggitarius?

Armageddeon replaces the entire EA list with three seperate lists. The early years, which covers up until just after the Minbari War. the Third Age, which covers up to 2262 or so, and Crusade, which covers everything after that. A number of ships have had their stats and/or priority levels changed too.

It appears (My copy hasn't arrived yet) that it's definitely not something you'd want to spring on a campaign unless everyone in the campaign is cool with it.

Playing a fun army, just for the pure fun, doesnt count, youre effectivel< doing friendly games in a tourney atmosphere, cause ou have taken winning out of the equation.
This is the extreme end of the spectrum but it still does happen. In friendly games people can do whatever they want but having balanced fleets will not hinder friendly play at all. On the flip side, balanced fleets allow people to take any fleet they want in any situation (tournament, friendly or campaign) and still have a reasonable expectation of victory.

This is why unit balance is critical in any wargame with a points system of any sort (including Priority Levels), as there is little point (no pun intended) of having a points system without them accurately reflecting the worth of the units.

No ofc not.

Im with you. But if a game is meant for friendly play only, unit balance does not need to be so perfect. Eg a roleplaying game, where the choice is revolving mroe around personal taste than perfect balance (ofc classes need to be balanced still, so you dont get a group of hammerhugging mad wizards or somesuch).

But the moment tourney play enters, a very good balance needs to be achieved, or any tourney is for nought.
