ok, i have a simple problem.. alot of locals also play EA.. i'm needing a paint scheme idea that will seperate my vessels from them.. I have seen alot of nice paitn jobs in the gallery.. But I want break away from the normal paint scheme that is seen in the show and books.. I do not like the black with dry brush look.. I was thinking of something like this....

but i am at a loss as to how to translate this to EA ships, and where to afix the unionjack on each vessel..

here is a list of the ships i have.

11 x Hyperion
5 x Omega
3 x Nova
4 x Artemis
6 x Tethys
4 x Sagittarius
1 x Poseidon
32 x starfuries (B5 wars)
16 x Badgers (B5 wars)
9 x Thunderbolts (B5 wars)

Without going through an indepth analysis of each ship, I'd roughly say this:

1. I'd need to watch SC&tWoT again to get some better views of the ship, but I'd go with a medium gray (or blue gray) base, dry-brushed up to near white. Then either Boltgun, Pig Iron or Silver accents for the support structure areas.

2. Fighters can have the Union Jack affixed to the top, of course.

3. Ships with the "Omega Chin" can have the UJ painted on the bottom of the brick (where the Letters usually are in the series). This should, IIRC, apply to the Omegas, Novas, Hyperions, Sags, and the Poseidon.

4. Ships like the Tethys and the Artemis can have it painted on the top.

5. In any case, I think the situation calls for "larger than life" and the UJ should take up as much of the space its assigned to as possible.

6. I'd also probably use the colors of the UJ to indicate different classes or, maybe, squadrons, of ships. For example, all your Assault Hyperions could be Blue Trim, while all your Missile Hyperions could be White Trim. Might not have enough colors for that.

ok, UJ one side and number other side.?

true, make it larger than life, and put the EA logo over it.

I agree..

So use the color coding that i have now for my variants..?

black = ship of the line
blue = missile
green = rail gun
yellow = assault
white = command
red = pulse

I've got a nice blue-grey base I can let you borrow. But I need it back, 'cause I use it a lot.

Yeah, since you use the larger FA fighters, that shouldn't be difficult. But I'd probably go with the UJ in the middle, the EA on one wing and a number on the other. Or the UJ w/ the EA overlay in the middle, and numbers on either wing.

I really like that idea. Very large UJ flag w/ the EA symbol on it. Could be a very nice symbol for the newly free Proxima Colonies. ;)

Yeah, I think with that blue-white base scheme, all of those colors will work for trim/accessories. It'll look a lot like your original scheme, but less metallic.

I can strip 'em for you. I've got a bunch of Simple Green and plenty of sealed tubs for soaking. Just give 'em to me on Sunday.

On the fighters, you could break the Union Jack into its component parts (Cross of St. George, Saltire of St. Andrew, saltire of St. Patrick, and use them to identify fighter flights.

Just remember to get the jack the right way up :)

never thought of that.. hmm, but i have lots of fighters.. guess i could use the break to ID what ship class it came from, then number them to mathc the ship...

ummm, which up does the flag go.? the short end is the top, right..? j/k
