What rank would she have

JMISBEST

Mongoose
For a idea of A Very Rich Noble funding A Mercenary Force to guard her what rank would the leader have when she leads 1 company of 88 Regular Soldiers, 1 platoon of 34 Elite Soldiers, 1 squad of 5 very light armoured vehicles, 1 squad of 3 light armoured vehicles, 1 Super-Light Tank, 1 Super-Light Artillery Piece and 1 Super-Light Battle-Copter

In British practice a company commander will hold the rank of major.

A case could be made for lt-colonel if the noble is pretentious and thinks inflated rank adds to her own status.

Ooops got it wrong. Double checked my notes and she's actually The Imperiums most powerful living Sub-Sector Duchess and is worth around 9.3 .Billion Cr and her actual personal guard are soldiers not mercenaries and are made up of 2 average sized companies both of 107 Regular Soldiers, 2 very large platoons both of 44 Elite Soldiers, 2 squads both of 6 very light armoured vehicles, 2 squads both of 4 light armoured vehicles, 2 Super-Light Tanks, 2 Super-Light Artillery Pieces and 2 Super-Light Battle-Copters. Sorry about the mistake. Does the actual amount change the rank and or increase the Social Scale, currently 11, that her Personal Guards Commander who is A Ex Very Senior Captain in The Naval Marines now holds/has?

Naturally this is the most powerful/greatest/best. That was a given. Odd that you gave a very specific force composition then found it was entirely different. Specificity wasn't really necessary but if you're going to do it, it seems strange to do it without checking.

Two companies with supports might be considered a weak battalion to be commanded by a Lt-colonel ,espeically if the elites are considered a company of two platoons and the supports another company.

If you you'd have:

BN commander (Lt col)
1st Infantry Company (major)
2nd Infantry Company (major)
Elite Infantry company (major, probably senior to the others), commanding 2 platoons each led by captains
Support company (major) with most of the vehciles, artillery and air are probably attached to Bn HQ

No idea about the social scale question; it's very subjective.

Ex naval personnel are unlikely to be directly commanding personal security, unless they are from the security branch.

As a matter of courtesy, a retired colonel can be addressed by that rank, if appointed the commander of a noble's security detail, or if he's running a mercenary outfit.

If the commander was promoted through the ranks, than he would have the rank of whatever the body guard unit has designated for that position.
