Spoiler alert for anyone who has never read King of Sartar!

Well, this may not be exactly the place to discuss this, but its guaranteed that there'll be people here wishing to discuss this, and/or know about it.
This is as good a place as anywhere, except perhaps the World of Glorantha Yahoo group and a lot of us read and post there as well.

After the Hero Wars in the 3rd age, the world is plunged into a new dark age.
It depends on what you mean by the Hero Wars. Don't you love answers about Glorantha that begin "It depends"?
There is an approximate 600-700 year cycle of when Ages end. The end of the Third Age happens between 1650 and 1750 ST. These are Argrath's wars, where he fights the Lunar Empire and brings about its destruction and transformation. In doing so, he brings back Sheng Seleris, who was as bad a dude as has ever existed in Glorantha, uses him to kill the Red Emperor and then sends him back to Hell, just to be on the safe side. He then gets some friendly dragons to rip the Red Moon apart and everyone cheers - hooray!
However, reading between the lines, there are a lot of things that happen during that time, or possibly afterwards, that are very, very nasty indeed. All the children die, the seas go away and then come back, the trolls disappear and people forget how to read and write, for example. I reckon that the end of the Third Age was as catastrophic as the ends of the First and Second Ages.
Because the timelines are confusing and confused, deliberately so, it is difficult to place some of the events and they might have happened during the Fourth Age proper rather than at the end of the Third Age.
The Fourth Age seems to be about getting things back together, learning how to read and write, for example. Personally, I haven't got a lot of interest in the Fourth Age, except for the bad stuff that happens.
Oh, and Argrath's Trickster kills all the gods on another Lightbringer Quest.
