what about Qualities as in Cthonion Star and half terms

" Qualities are those things about your character
that cannot easily be summed up by characteristics,
skills, or career. Perhaps your character is ambidextrous
or has a bad habit. These are covered by what
are known as qualities. Those qualities that provide
benefit to your character are called advantages,
while those that hinder your character in some way
are called disadvantages.
Each term, your character receives two points to
spend on advantages. He may also take up to three
points worth of disadvantages, giving him up to three
more points for advantages. Each half-term is about
half that – one point for advantages, with the option
to purchase two points worth of disadvantages. Because
some advantages cost more than two points,
you may have to choose a disadvantage to purchase
an advantage you desire.
The acquisition of qualities is an excellent opportunity
to create part of your character’s background
story for this term. How did he discover that he was
ambidextrous during his training as an agent? What
made him take up his bad habit during his tour with
the marines?
Qualities gained through Events do not cost or
provide points and do not count against these limits.
 
well the issue is why not consider them for the companion book or even see them as propositions for the core game.

dealing in point buy and instead of four year terms , deal in one year at a time?
this seems more gritter and possible a little more consistent with actual military service, no one serves four year thier first term every one actually serves eight.
you my do four active and two reserve and two inactive, or you may do all eight active or two years active and four reserve and two inactive , but you do serve eight no matter what?

it takes at lease two years just to gain competent in your core MOS.
I know just a game, but these are serious options some might want to consider.

qualities and flaws are a perfect match to Traveller.
and my I ask when you put this together way back when , was the low 20 from New era off the the table, it was owned by Marc Miller was that system not?
or even the system from Mega Traveller? just interested in all the system history of Traveller you choose the current one?
 
areafiftyonegames; may I suggest going forward that if you are going to ask a lot of questions like this, you should be clear who you are asking them of. I must conclude you really meant these questions for someone else so I am not even going to attempt to answer any of them. :D
 
well to be honest I am asking fellow players what they think, its a big option I understand.
but I want to know what others think , I am not fearful of reprisal it's just words and questions to a my fellow Travellers. I have been playing Traveller sense 1984. I have I Feel some considerable contribution to the game.

1 I do miss the versatility of New era Traveller, it allowed Reserve units and civilian Career, it had the martial artist and the Cook and the Rescue and the Medic. it had some real tight rules and versatility of fire ,fusion and steal.

I like the current version of Traveller too, I can make aliens from the core book and worlds and all that with out a Companion book, what and how are you going to have me give up my current books, and go re buy another 500. 00 OF REPRINTS WITH TINY changes here and there?>

without adding to a game I have loved for more then 20 orbits of our fair isolate world?

for me a bring more to the table, give me Traveller and give me a general sci fi game that I can run something like star wars to Fire fly, witch I have done already and have done sense the begining. My first star wars setting was with Traveller, because Old Darth and luke's stats where in the back of the citizens book! then I got space opera and use the Atlas but keep the Traveller rules. and I mix matched with star Frontiers . that how Versatile Traveller is or was to us when we where kids.

so I GOT THE PLAY Test and so far I do not see nothing that is not in the old game, and less that in the core book.

Question to the staff if they are, what are you bring to the table to well interest me in re buying all the books again?
 
shorter Terms, depending on the type, is what I made in my house rules.
But it ended in using the Alternity Rules with the Character Creation mechanics of Traveller. :mrgreen:
