Weapons in the main rulebook

If by SLR you mean semi-automatic FN-FAL, then, as far as I'm aware, Traveller has always made this distinction.

M16 is an assault rifle, FN-FAL is an autorifle/battle rifle and SLR is the semi-automatic version of the autorifle (just "Rifle"?). An SLR + a match stick and you're back at autorifle again.

Nevertheless, I take your point.

Aye I mean the FN FAL. Too much time hanging round with bootnecks.

As a side issue I've always found the autorifle a little redundant as a separate weapon. It's just seemed like an underpowered ACR. Unless it's an SLR (self loading but no burst fire) I suppose.

Probably not the best example but you see where I'm coming from.

Personally I'd like to see the weapons from CT Book 1 + Book 4 + Citizens of the Imperium included as a minimum......OK, perhaps not the artillery from Book 4, but certainly the support weapons - VRF Gauss Gun, AutoCannon, mortars, grenades.

I think I'd like to see a representative of each of these kinds of weapon systems.

Melee
  • Knife
  • Blade
  • Cutlass
  • Sword
  • Rapier

Firearms
  • Pistol: single-shot one-handed firearms. Includes semi-automatic or revolvers, as well as gyrojet, MLA, or needler weapons.
  • Assault: this group is typically represented by a machine pistol or submachine gun. All are capable of burst and full automatic fire.
  • Carbine: short, compact rifles that fire full-sized rounds. Some are capable of burst fire. May also be gyrojet or needler weapons.
  • Rifle: long arms requiring two hands to fire accurately. They possess great range capabilities and deadly stopping power. These are single-shot weapons typically possessing multi-round magazines. These may also be MLA, gyrojet, and needler weapons.
  • Assault Rifle: rifles that are designed to withstand the rigors of fully automatic fire. They possess high-capacity magazines and single, burst, and automatic fire selector positions.
  • Support: heavier, often mounted or fired from a bipod, these are the anti-equipment weapons. They are designed to attack materiel directly, often while it is being utilized by an enemy soldier. High rate of fire and large caliber.
