[WaW] Finding 1/72 scale minis?

Kristovich

Mongoose
Well, hello all and everyone. Long time no see and all that, huh?

Anyways, I noticed the WaW edition to BF: Evo and it brought back memories of when me and my mates played with 1/72 scale WWII minis. We had the most unbalanced rules ever, but we had a blast.

Now those days are long gone past and the store where we got our minis is not reliable to say the least. Now, does anyone know of a good supplier (as I can't find any good swedish ones) that sells 1/72 scale WWII minis? And if you do, would you kindly give me a link or a name?

Thanks in advance!

hi, i use this ebay seller. Good prices and service.

Posts internationally.

Check this site for 1/72 reviews. Excellent.

Ah, many thanks Jay! Not too price either, and being in the EU customs won't be a problem :D

Also, while plasticsoldierreview is great, they only seem to review infantry minis. Is there any similar site that reviews tank kits as well? Thanks in advance, once more!

Aye, it has been indeed. Kinda lost interest after the announcment of no more minis. Got back and I find World at War

So once my economy allows I'll get the rulebook and start building myself an 1/72 scale Russian and German west fron army (maybe early war germans though, who knows?).

And since 1/72 scale is alot cheaper than 30mm, and you get more models, I'm so into it!

...and I found it.

The excellent On the Way site has moved around quite a bit, but I think this is the latest adress: http://www.onthewayuk.com/default.htm Lots of good kit reviews with pictures of the various sprues.

("On The Way!" is a phrase shouted by US tank gunners as they fire on an enemy tank.)

have to pipe in here :)

armourfast kits, very cheap 1/72 kits. wargame detail simple to build ie very few parts, can be fidly to get tracks right on T34 due to instructions but that said the tank tracks are one piece items, basicly they build a little like the FOW tanks.

ceaser do some great minis as well no sprue cutting required and good detail.

also forgot name of company now but they do germans british americans in 1/72 detail is amazing and the sprues come with extra arms and heads so you can customise your minis they cost more but so worth it.

Italeri has also tried some of this, in order to meet the competition I suppose. The Tiger, Panther and JS-II tanks are available as wargame models, two to a box.

That would be Valiant minis. They are bigger than other 1/72 minis, more like "true 25 mm" than 20mm. So if you only use Valiant you are fine, but if you want to mix in other manufacturers they will look very odd.

im a little rusty on all this mini stuff, but once my final essays are in for uni, il crack on and try do one of my mad army projects. :D

ive bought a few bits and its sittting in boxes for the day i hand my papers in :D

I have been using Revel modek kits for my troopers and using FoV and other diecast for my armor. Scale Creep Rocks too! I got some nice 20mm minis there.

McKeeman Models are quite good. They live on ebay too, but it's better to order from their home page.

Bra service till Sverige också, du slipper betala extra tull eftersom det är inom EU. :)

Yeah, they do look good. A tad more expensive than Drum & Flag though, at least when ordering one-off packs. Thanks anyway though :D

Jo, det är ju en fördel med att vara med i EU :P

Depends on what you want.

Example: HäT Armourfast Cromwell; £5.00 at McKeeman Models, £5.49 at Drum and flag. Pegasus german army trucks; £5.99 at Drum and Flag, £6.50 at McKeeman Models. McKeeman Models has some other brands (including metal figs) than Drum and Flag, and vice versa.

It's always good to have alternatives, depending on what you want. I have now bookmarked Drum and Flag as well, thanks! 8)
