Wave 2 Surprise

Gibbs

Mongoose
Hey guys, when you get your wave 2 minis look under their bases. You'll get a pleasant surprise... I know I did.
That's right, it's April 2 and Wave 2 has arrived in Australia! Mongoose delivered! :D

That's right kids, they actually tell you what model they are *and* what they are armed with! Good job mongoose, that's going above and beyond *and* responding to your clientel. Plus the minis are awesome...the level of detail on the Warrior is astounding.

we did tell you that there was stickers underneith :D

still no wave 2 on general release in bristol yet an hour away from MGP HQ

Excellent news for you Gibbs. It does seem all the more frustrating that officially the release has been delayed around here for a good two weeks. Especially as the long Easter weekend would be an ideal opportunity to try things out. I am sure that there are good reasons, but still.....

I know what you mean. Dennbok pasted my MEA with his PLA because I couldn't get across the board fast enought to where his infantry were cowering stupid Type 99s, RPGs are almost useless against them. Technicals mean I can now move past tanks quickly *and* do drive by at-14ing of tanks! 4D10+2 shots from a single one!

I can also bypass armour and hose down infantry .

By the way...the wheels don't spin

Warrior is absolutely amazing.

Sorrry I missed that post  But it's stil an awesome surprise and a nice touch for the models.

not sure if you can shoot the rpg from a technical, i think its just the rifles, but i could be wrong.

Direct from the Technical card:

"Up to 4 models may fire from the technical at a -1 to their damage dice if the technical takes a shoot action."

Nothing about which damage dice, nor does it say rifleman.

play as written.

Sorry Evil, should then read 4D10+1

thats cool was a while since i last used them a friend normly uses them instead of me.

think you can only have 3 rpgs in a unit though but its still a great tank/apc hunter.

D'Oh  there's always one thing....damn oh well.
3D10+1 then

Although, you may have up to 8 models in the Technical. They don't have to be from the same squad (although you will need another two technicals for this one and keep them all within six inches of each other). You can fill up 2 technicals from one squad each (one technical will have two AT-14s in it). Your third technical is a mixed technical but will have 4 AT-14s in it
And there you have it. 4 AT-14s in one technical! 8)

Sooo....if you buy Wave 2 from the Mongoose online store you get it on April 2, but if you want to get it through your local game store you have to wait until god knows when.

Why would a game store bother to stock BEVO?

The question is valid for preorders and brand new games...why go through a distributor when you can go straight to the publisher to get them faster.

However, I wouldn't condone this action when models are available locally (which they aren't at the moment). The problem is that LGSs aren't able to get BF:evo in because of the distributors have delayed it. I'm almost certain that Australia's supply of BF:Evo has arrived...it is just waiting for the official release date.

There is also a problem with the fact that this game is brand new and so isn't in too high a demand nor is it in high supply, thus in the intial stages it is better to preorder from the website. My LGS doesn't supply mongoose so I don't have an ethical dilemma in buying from the website. After the initial release date you will find that your LGS will be better for instant supply of stock (in that you don't have to wait a week or so for it usually).

Well not quite, I don't think MGP is actually selling them yet. Right?

Officially they are not selling them. But if I understand what is happening, Mongoose originally aimed for a world wide release of April 2. Some of pre-ordered minitatures were sent before March 30 (in order to make the worldwide release) when Alliance made the call and mongoose agreed to postpone. However, it was too late to recall the orders that have already been posted. Arrival dates depend on your postal service.

From what I've read, some distributors may have already posted stock to their LGSs in anticipation of the April 2nd date and some LGSs stocked them. Mongoose was well within their rights to actually post pre-orders to try and arrive in time and as it was categorically stated in another topic, they were not responsible for this delay and their distributor Alliance did not contact them about this until after the preorders had been shipped.

Mongoose isn't offically selling wave 2 until the 16th. But if you did pre-order from mongoose, you may be lucky enough to get your wave two models earlier.

Yeah...I can see the distributor hiding the stock away from retailers while Mongoose sells it online and destroys their business. I'm sure the distributor and game stores in Australia are more than happy to lose sales. Yeah, that's how it works.

Dude, there's no Wave 2 hidden away by the distributor. There's no Wave 2 secretly stashed up the back of game stores. There's no aliens anally probing your cows. The only Wave 2 in Australia is in the hands of people who bought it from the Mongoose online store. Don't make up bullshit to make yourself feel better, just be happy you've got it and the gamers who support their local game store don't.

See my post above this...it's not my fault and it's not mongooses'. It's not about loosing sales and mongoose making sales...mongoose gets money from the sales anyway. It just so happened that mongoose tried to make a worldwide distribution date of april 2 and a distributor held it up. Mongoose graciously agreed to postpone the release date and part of that is instructing distributors to hold off until the agreed date. At least that is what I assume is happening as that is usually what happens in the retail business.

Your argument makes no sense whatsoever sesch, please don't accuse me of trying to make myself feel better...I'm trying to offer you a logical explanation as to why stock hasn't arrived at LGSs. It's not a big conspiracy and as far as I know it could have arrived at your LGSs today.

Sorry Sesch, I didn't mean to annoy you and I don't want this post to annoy you but I'm just saying the way I understand what's happening. Your post was fairly offensive and insulting. I'm not trying to insult your intelligence at all and it's obvious that you are very keen on supporting your LGS but what happens if you don't have a good LGS (that you know about at least). Where do you actually go to get your figs? Wouldn't you go to the publisher too?

not true, i saw some last night being probed on the way home from the pub, its true true i tell you....

this is an issue between distributers and shops. so far no shop is passionate enough about the hobby to look into it i would gues.

Sorry mate, wasn't meant to be. I'm not pissed at you by any stretch. If my LGS wouldn't stock it I'd do the same. My problem is that my LGS does stock it and supports Mongoose. It doesn't matter whose fault this debacle was, there's never any point in blaming anyone whether it's the distributor or game stores or pirates in the South China Sea, the point is it shouldn't have happened. It's not like game stores are beating down the doors to stock BEVO, as you can attest with your LGS, and this kind of thing will just make them even more determined to avoid it. Anyway, what's done is done. I guess I sit back and wait.
