Wave 2 - More Previews

Im not saying the mongoose ones are bad, Im just saying they'd be a hell of alot better with interiors. Otherwise like I say they're pretty good!

I havent really looked into this Paladin, but toy cars are pretty good these days, and a two second ebay search turned up this admitaly flawed example for $3.29, but if price were your sole focus changing the wheels, wouldnt take to long. http://toyeast.ideoconcepts.com/productimage/ato0614ga.jpg
Im not sure about the quality not having one in my hand, but its just an example that something of comparable quality can have an interior and windows without being expensive.

Well If I was buying it specifically for wargaming then yeah, I'd expect a driver, doesn't seem to outrageous. Since he'd be attached to the seat part of the model I suppose that could be painted too :D

Like I said earlier I can see that it works out cheaper without it, but thats the first thing a competitors gonna add to their version.

Thats perfectly fine, I just think it seems to buck the otherwise high presentation of the range.
It seems to be the popular choice though and its better for mongoose this way I suppose.

I see your point, i like cars/trucks with drivers much better and i do shell out for them aswell, (assembling an Ebob Blitz as i type, not that that's very expensive for a nice kit but if i was going to use 6 of them i'd probably like toned windows;))

Assuming a painted driver is the same price as a normal model @ $3 apiece + $2 for windows and interior plastic + interior painting $2 you almost double the price of a truck.

I'm not disagreeing that I wouldn't like to see interiors. But if it comes down to a significantly cheaper mini vs. extra detail I'll go with cheaper minis.

Well it doesnt actually COST Mongoose that much does it?
The driver would be molded to the seat, so basically you have one figure, who happens to have a vehicle interior attached to his arse for $2. This is basically the bottom of the car, stick it to the top, finished just like they make the toys.
If the windows really would be pushing the boat out (And I doubt they'd cost more than 50c) just leave them out.

I'm not really arguing either way to be honest, the windows are a major turn off for me as I've said, but there are plenty of people who do seem to like them so its probably not all that important.

Just got home from a horrible day at work and saw that the new pics were up. I was so excited I think i pee'd my pants alittle....*checks* oh yea...thats pee. Great stuff! cant wait till January. Btw has anyone said if the release is early or late jan? Did i miss the thread somewhere?

I still say that it is better to have more inexpensive minis than going to the trouble of putting drivers in the seats. If Mongoose went with the drivers, I could easily see them dropping the Technicals and Shadows down to two per box instead of the three. This would be a major pain IMO, since with the current set up you buy one box of marines and one box of Shadows and you are set. Drop it down to two per box, and you lose this balance.

In the Playtest group Matthew mentioned that adding clear windows was significantly more expensive. If the mold cost was was increased so would labor. IIRC they would have to charge 20-25% more.

OTOH they may have detailed and painted interiors w/ drivers and leave it up to us to cut out the windows.

Ah, actually, two Shadows would carry 2 fire teams + a sarge just fine (capacity of 6 apiece, I do believe). In fact, I'm thinking...

3x USMC Infantry Boxes
2x Shadow Squadrons
1x Abrams
(Possibly a Cobra, or another Tank)

...split up the third Squad, to add another fire team to each of the other two (you'll have a spare sarge, mind) and you've got a reasonably compact, very mobile force of Marines.

Er, yeah, anyway. ^^;;; Just sayin'

I know, I know...

And I'm the one that figured out what most of the card said too.

*bows head in shame, waiting for the inevitable newspaper from Hiro*

can i remind people these are game minatures and not toys or historicle display minis, there is no practicle reason to put a driver in the seat and pay for the sculpting of driver/ interior, also if there was adriver the same people would then be complaining on why their arnt passengers !!!!

they look great, and the second wave is selling me on the game.
