Vree & Supermaneuverability...

so do the shadow loose then the hypermaster ability because its advanced advanced advanced Jump engine?

Beside this its like the you need al stop to use youre sm abilty in the first edition and the stupid you can´t use youre crew bonus beside for youre fighters. Now its again "we don´t like the sm of the saucer tread"

do the Drakh loose the Huge Hanger X ?
do the Psi corp loose best of the best, Psychic Crew?

no Shadows don't loose - not a trait and not in the rules - unlike SM when crippled

Yes if you roll right due to criticals / being crippled - although what happens to any ships still in there has not been confirmed

again yes - its a trait so can be lost when crippled or due to certain criticals

We are just confirming the rules as written :?

why do you say that?

I play the Vree from time to time.

Besides, sometimes the ability to move at less than 1/2 speed can be decisive, but only in certain rare occasions.

You've got to be taking the p!$$ now. Come on just read the rules, stop spouting drivel. This has been answered repeatedly in this thread already. If you don't like the answers then I suggest you put forward some logical reasoning why what we are saying is wrong, rather than suggesting random racial traits and asking "do XXX lose YYY?". The answer is, if the rules say they do, then they do. If you rules don't say they do, then they don't.

The rules say that SM ships are reduced to 2/45 when crippled. Therefore the answer to the original question is, the Vree's special ability to move as though they were SM, is reduced to moving as though they were 2/45. End of.

This, from the 2nd ed. FAQ.

Q. Do the Vree still get to use Super Manoeuvrability when Crippled?
A. Yes – you cannot reduce turns on SM!

Regards,

Read page 9 of the rulebook.
That is where the logic comes from.

Hmmm
SM for 3", Is that worth it?
I only think that it is under certian certian circumstances

Good thing I have my friends copy handy ;) I suppose that you are referring to the effects of being crippled? I see what you are referring to, crippled SM ships being reduced to 2 45 degree turns. If you peruse the Vree list, you will note that none of them have the SM trait, it is the Special Rule that allows them, at half speed, to move "as if they had the SM trait". This is a distinct difference, even if it leaves a bad taste in the mouth to some.

Why didn't you say something earlier?
this would have cleared things up sooner I think.

Co incidentlly, I work with beef burgers, so I always have a sour taste in my mouth :)

Well, as I said before, sadly, I do not yet have my own copy of the rules as yet... I am at the end of the manufacturer/distributor/retailer/customer food chain. I like to be able to refer to specific things in the books whenever possible unless I am offering my Humble Opinion. ;) Fortunately, my friend pre ordered a copy of said Tomes and generously allows me to peruse them frequently.. makes for less arguement, er, discussion during games.
Regards,

"As if it were SM"... when an SM ship is crippled, it moves at 2/45. Therefore when a crippled ship moves as if it were SM, it would move at 2/45 also, since this is what an SM ship would do.

Picking nits? ;) The FAQ, which I must assume is Mongoose Scripture, has rendered an adjudication. Any other discussion that takes place will be simply for intellectual stimulation. ;)

Sounds like heresy to me...

oh oh. Time to summon a P12! ;)

Seems the scripture is about to change...how like religion...

WE ARE INFALLIBLE!

<boss...um...bosss....psst!>

AH...We are infallible this time. Really...

Ripple

no offense to Matt, it happens...just a reference to the fact that handed down from on high is still handed down from people...mistakes get made and one should always stand up and say if you disagree with stuff. Not just for intellectual stimulation, but to improve the product down the road

The layering of the argument determines the outcome. If the racial trait is applied and then the crippled condition is applied to overrule prior conditions, I would agree with Burger. If the crippled condition is applied and then the racial trait is applied, superseding prior conditions, then I would agree with the FAQ. (How very un-Vorlon like of me to define what I mean.)
