Vree Abduction

In a campaign,i used my ex-p on special duties. I rolled and got Abduction.
The way i understand it is that if lets say the Narn attack me,i launch a counter attack. A scenario is set up as if i am the attacker now. Meaning since i am considered to be the attacker,if i choose to open a jump gate and leave,i would neither gain nor lose the strategic target. In short the Narn could not take a strategic targer from me the turn in wich Abduction was used. Do i have this correct?

You are correct, you become the attacker, he the defender,
in any case, you cannot lose the target that he was trying to
take from you. You do however, lose the battle if you withdraw.
