Vorlons Or Brakiri? That is the question

After having played with my beloved EA for some time now I felt ready for a change of fleets. browsing my options I found the Vorlons and Brakiri ships both to my taste. My problem is I like both so much i cant choose which fleet to play. So I am looking for advice on the playing styles of both fleets and there advantages and shortfalls
 
Brakkiri for my money play quite similarly to EA (especially third age EA) in that their ships are fairly tough with middling range and generally decent all round firepower with a few ships having big long range forward guns. (also tending to be generally slow and not very maneuverable)

Vorlons are quite different, relying entirely on massive forward weaponry and VERY tough ships (though some are pretty darn maneuverable for their class when you stop and look at them).

Personally I'd go Vorlon simply because theyre more different to EA. But Brakkiri have more ships to choose from.
 
Hey, the Vorlon ship range hasn't been expended for ages, while the Brakiri has had a massive boost recently in terms of new ships. Boot will be on the other foot sooner or later, and there have been comments from the designers that new Vorlon ships may be coming over the next year.

My advise, grab yourself one of the old Vorlon fleet boxes before they disappear, will give you enough Vorlons to fight a major campaign. By the time you've got used to using them the new ships might be coming along.
 
I haven't really studied the Brakiri fleet, but I can caution against introducing Ancients into your local playgroup.

Depending on how laid back they are, or how accepting of double and triple teams you are, there could be some struggle.

I know in my playgroup, there's been some "Well, Ken's bringing Shadows, better team up and take him out first." as well as the usual accusations of Cheesy, Broken, etc.

well i have both fleets, i love the vorlons and i love the brakiri/legue fleets.
they both play quite differnt as locutus and n.a.m. state, oh and the vorlons have quad damage, couldnt give you a preference as i like em all but vorlons will play the most different to give you a change so i say go vorlons
 
I already have Vorlons, but I will be building Brakiri before I add to the Vorlon fleet. Playing an Ancients fleet is fun but perhaps less of a challenge.

I'd say Vorlons for the simple fact that Brakiri play very much like EA, and I "suspect" a different playstyle might be more exciting to try.
The Vorlons are tough, but not without their weaknesses. they also have a funky paint scheme which is always a bonus!

Oh yes. My Vorlon paint scheme required three colors and four ink washes.

Ok then for a change in playing style i will start with the vorlons maybe moving on to Brakiri later
