Villians in your runequest games

As for Broo and trolls needing a reason tifight, there is always someone anal in the player group who likes to know EVERYTHING...
It's fundamental to their make-up and the hatred trolls have for Chaos. Almost any troll would regard it as a religious necessity to get rid of _any_ broo, even to the extent of allying with any other (non-Chaotic) race to face an army of broo.

Such a troll-broo conflict would also have a large contingent of Zorak Zoran berserkers (with controlled zombies and skeletons, perhaps), probably guest contingents of Storm Bull and (possibly) Rune Lords/Priests of the Lightbringer cults.

What are Zorak Zoran? A cult or race not covered in mosnters?

So I guess Trolls are not really bad guys then, just another elder race?

Zorak Zoran is the trollish warrior/death cult. But it's more complex than that.

Trolls are certainly not bad guys. They're a complex race with their own psychology and motivations. Great fun to play!

I've always liked them since I saw their artwork in the monster book.
Damn, now I'm thinking of getting the Uz book. I feel like a damn crackhead...

Zorak Zoran are a Troll beserker death cult who practice Necromancy. They are also sworn enemies of Chaos.

Trolls have always been a foe of chaos and fought it whenever and wherever. They are associated with Darkness, not chaos. So whether they are a bad guys or not depends on your point of view.

Sun worshippers and trolls do not get along. So yes, they are bad guys. And they like to eat. Anything. Including most other races.

But they have been instrumental in saving the world on a few occassions.

The upcomming Uz book should prove very enlightening. Glorantha Trolls are a very detailed race with a complex society and tragic history that has become one of the most beloved races in gaming.

And they smash things.

And burp and fart a lot too.

You know if I hadn't adopted the board persona of a Yelmalion who constantly gets creamed by Trolls I'd have spoken even higher of them.
:D

Well, I am sure that Trolls would unite with Sun worshippers should chaos rear its ugly head.
That could be fun - a temporary, unstable alliance and as soon as the Chaos was destroyed the Zorak Zoran contingent would probably attack the Fire/Sun contingent.

Actually, there were some troll/Sun alliances in the Second Age:
“priest found common bond with any priest, and even accepted the help of the dark powers of the north. Winter chills, troll raids, and hungry monsters stalked Peloria as her natives rebelled.” [Glorantha Book p.23]

Little known fact: Because Xiola Umbar assisted Yelm or Yelmalio (can't quite remember which) in the Great Darkness, the Troll goddess of Mercy has a shrine, albeit a token and much neglected one, in all the Sun Dome temples.

That's very interesting, can you remember where you read that?

That sounds like something from sun country perhaps?
