VAS Are Torpedo attacks affected by Bad weather/night time ?

The rules say depth charges arent modified at all regardless of conditions but Torps say they are not affected by the modifiers on page 7

I think they should be penalised for Bad Weather maybe but not sure about Night Time

well a torpedo obviously doesn't care if it;s day or night, but the fire control officer will. i would say the usual night time modifiers ought to apply.

as for bad weather, i definitely think choppy weather would mess up a torpedo, but on the same token, it's going to make the target less maneuverable, so maybe the effects cancel each other out.

Torpedoes would have to be set to run deeper in heavy weather, or run the risk of breaching and going well off course. And the ship itself will rise and fall more, making it possible for the torpedoes to run under the keel, and have an erratic speed. So, yes, I'd say it has the usual effect.

as a general question, how much less likely were you to hit a target if you set your torpedos 3 or 4 meters lower in the water? assuming choppy conditions. was it a valid counter or a waste of a torpedo?

3 or 4 metres deeper than usual would go right under a destroyer or some cruisers, I think. That's one reason for the higher Target Number.

Torpedoes are affected by both bad weather and night time rules.
