Variant Hulls and Availability

going back to the bit about limiting the number of variants, where do you agree that a variant has superseeded the ship that it was modified from? This is especially important for a brakari player (which i shall soon be hopefully) with the avoki heavy cruiser. Its a great ship but after 2260 i'd want to field kaliva lance cruisers much more, and they are an avioki variant. Eventually the brakari would faze out the avioki and replace it with the kaliva, so when does it become its own ship, or the primary version?

Actually, most think the Avioki is a LOUSY ship, and the Kaliva is just above average to good.

Issues like this abound. Sometimes you need the variant just to have a chance (Kaliva). Sometimes, it's just for cheese (Tertius).

I don't think we should even consider variants "separate". They are ... what they are. Just ships.

but eventually one variant may become the primary spec for that model, so eventually the avioki would become a variant and the kaliva would be the way the majority of ships were for that hull.
And why isnt the WSC 2 a white star design then if variants are never seperate?

Like the Rongoth superseded the Rothan to become the primary design.
