Vargr Images

Don't know about anyone else, but I like to use images to show my players when they meet NPCs. Next session they are likely to meet a vargr and I'm having a bugger of a time finding good images. Gets a bit frustrating at times.

My players, who are new to the Traveller universe, found Vargr and Aslan so risible that I've decided to avoid using the former and changed the latter (whom they haven't yet encountered) to instead be some kind of human variant. (Apologies to those fans who might consider that sacrilege.)

That doesn't really help you, I realise, but I mention it cos most pictures available of Vargr and Aslan didn't really help.

Dan.

Here is one vargr image I made a long time ago:

I browse Pinterest for RPG images of NPCs and landscapes.

I do the same. It's a great resource.

It's a good image dragoner, but not really what I'm after. Please don't take offence, but I'm after images that represent vargr, not just a human body with a wolf head attached. Vargr are wolf-like, but do have differences. A shorter snout, broader head, digitigrade legs, forward leaning posture, etc.

Thank you though. I appreciate that you were helping.

mancerbear, I don't know if your Vargr art style is the same as mine or not. I prefer wolf images when searching the iWEB. I look for werewolves that are digitigrade, and are wearing some sort of armor. To me, Vargr look like the werewolves in Skyrim, but shorter. Once in awhile though, I'll use a Vargr that is taller than a human.

I also prefer a more wolf like images since vargr were created using wolves since domesticated dogs were only around about 33,000 years ago, long after the Ancients arrived. I must say I do appreciate the cover art on MegaTraveller Alien vol. 1: Vilani & Vargr for their depiction of a vargr.

Then there's the vargr robot in the book that looks so much like Crow T. Robot....

I liked the older alien race art used in the 1st printing of Mongoose 1e. The 2nd printing of MgT 1 replaced a lot of the art in the book.

I too prefer my vargr to look wolf-like ('-like' being the key word) but not just a wolf head essentially photoshopped onto a person's body :)

I have the same issue with the current take on Aslan, which are just anthropomorphic lions.

I flip back and forth between Mongoose Aslan and these (depending what my players might prefer).
