value of SST?

Hi all, havent visited these forums for a while.

Was clearing out the spare room of far too many minis as people of our ilk are wanton to accumliate when I found my SST gear. Theres large armies of MI, bugs and Skinnies.

I thought I'd log back on here and was suprised to see it seems some of this is now rare and/or valuable. Last time I bought some the prices were in the pan.

So could anyone explain to me if I'm right and what kinda prices things go for? I might shift mine on being I dont have anyone to play.

Basically all the plastics are pretty easy to come by and you can find them on eBay or elsewhere pretty cheap still, roughly 1/3 to 1/2 retail in my experience. If it's a metal/part metal kit prices seem to start at or slightly below retail and go up from there. Some items such as exosuits (both grizzlies & cougars) are particularly hard to find and will probably fetch 3-4 times their original value, painted or otherwise. I have little doubt you'd have trouble finding buyers for most of it. Heck, I'd take a thorny tanker and/or a mantis assassin bug off your hands if you are willing to part with them ;-)...

Nah, mate you can fetch quite a bit on Fleabay. One of the old tournament regulars just sold a lot of his stuff, I was gutted to see it. Brought a nostalgic tear to my eye.

The most valuable of the above (in order as I've seen them recently on eBay and elsewhere) would probably be:

Cougars (by far - I suspect you could probably ask for US$125-150 for them and get it easily)
Overseer (last one I saw was about US$75)
Bigfoot (went for US$55 IIRC)
King Tanker (about US$50)
Mantis (prob $30-35, though there's one guy been trying to sell one on eBay for US$80 for two months with no takers. Personally, I think that's *way* overpriced, otherwise it would have gone by now)
TAC UAV (US$30 or so)
Nighthawk (US$30 or so)
maybe the Roughnecks and or Pathfinder K-9s, haven't seen them in a while so I dunno.

The rest are pretty common from what I can tell. Saw apes on eBay go for $10 for 2, WASPs about $10 per box, full box (9) of Ripplers was $25, plasma for about $12-20.

Obviously don't take these prices for gospel. It will depend on who's bidding at the moment, etc. These are just what I've seen stuff go for in the last month or so.

Skinnies:

Most of the Skinnie stuff I've seen recently has gone for a little less than retail, though they don't seem to shift very quickly unless it's one of the rarer items. About the only thing I can think of off-hand that might draw more money than the rest could be the elites and if you have one or more of the skimmers.

As I mentioned, if you do decide to sell the Mantis, I'd definitely be interested depending on what you wanted for it .

The latter two. Venerables are decently valuable, but not as hard to find as the others. If you do decide to sell via eBay, I'd recommend opening it up to international bidders since there seems to be a following in both the UK and US and you might get more hits that way.

cheers Saint. Trying to figure the value of the skinnies. I actually quite like them, not sure if I'll ever get round to painting them (or have the need for them) but at the same time if I'm just goung to get a pittance I'd prefer to put them away for a few years.

I'd be willing to discuss trades too I play 40k and fantasy (as well as Wm and hordes but I already have tons of that). Like everyone else I adore Forge World too (and am always on the look out for armorcast).

May consider video games too (have 360 and ps3), hell will consider most things.

I would prefer to get rid of these to someone on here rather than ebay, even if I take a (small) hit doing it.

What I have seen is that the cougar exosuits can go for around $25-30 each on eBay, sometimes more, occasionally when the bidding is slow maybe less. It all depends on who is bidding, whether you are selling them individually or in lots, etc. I have not seen any grizzlies up for sale since I began actively looking for SST stuff online a couple months ago, but I suspect the same is true of them.

Note that this is eBay USA and since I don't pay much attention to eBay in other countries it may be different elsewhere. I reiterate, this is only what *I* have seen. Please don't take this as gospel as there are plenty of other factors that may affect the final price you get for your items on eBay. I have been both amazed and severely disappointed at times there. There are definitely no guarantees as to anything on eBay.
