Using PC / Console Games as Play Aids

Dear Friends,

Has anyone used PC or Console Sci-Fi Games as play aids, or even as the basis for your Traveller gaming campaign ?

I'm experimenting with various games, such as ST Starfleet Command and ST Bridge Commander for Ship Combat, SW Republic Commando and ST Elite Force for man-to-man skirmishes, ST Battlegrounds and Empire at War for operational warfare, and VGA4 Planets for a strategic backdrop. All these games have extensive modding options, so Traveller and original material can be inputted.

I have used some of the casino games to allow players to Role Play out gambling.

No skill winnings = 1/2 actual
Skill level 1 = actual winnings
Skill level 2 = 1.5 actual winnings
etc

Only used gambling games, where I could set the starting money, which would equal what ever the character was going to put up for play.

I am finding Bioware's methods for controlling storylines very educational in the planning of scenarios.
