Using Missle Varients.

Can you swap between missile varients during game? A battle ship you would expect to carry a range of missiles. But the resident EA player has always chosen 1 type pre battle, Which sounds a bit wrong to me?

Id say no 1 type, 1 type only

nope, one type only.

you have to remember, you ain't talking sidewinders here, you are talking cruise missiles or bigger (looking at the missile pods on EA ships) so you have a finite amount of storage.

I suppose but Appolo I would asume has masses of room for Missiles because it is a missile ship.

Just seems abit of a waist with so many varients if you can only have the 1 a great deal of those won't get used!

There is nothing to stop you loading one sort in one side, and a different sort in another launcher. Long range in the port, turn around when they get closer and launch heavies from the starboard.

maybe but then how many missiles does a nuclear sub hold?

thing with being able to chage at a whim is that it all becomes a bit cheesy. enemy a long way away, use long range missiles, ooh, closed a bit, switch to standard, getting up close, bob in the heavy. no-one else can do this, and it would be a huge advantage.

True my point was I haven't read much on swapping missiles I would have expected the Appolo to carry maybe upto 3 different types or 2...

Giving any ship with a big missile rack full range would be devastating!

Some people would say thats splitting the hair mighty thin....

The rules are pretty clear:

Each missile rack on a ship may have just one missile type though a single ship with multiple missile racks may have a different missile in each rack system.

You can switch them out between campaign turns/battles.

I assume a tender floats up, and instead of resuppling the ship's existing load-out, de-loads and loads in the new payload.

But yes, you can load 1 missile type per missile rack, so a ship like an Apollo could have Long Range Missiles in its forward arc, heavy missiles in starboard, flash missiles in port, and standard missiles in aft, should the fancy take you. Depending on my opponent, I like putting flash missiles in the aft missile rack, to give them a nice, nasty surprise.
