"Useless" units

So two troopers with triplethuds who, even counting the rest of the minimum squad, are cheaper than the tanker, cause the maximum tankerspitboom with bigger range...

BOOM!!!

But yeah I can't get anything besides coolnes and mayyybe a tidbit of survivability for officers out of cougars too.

Never bothered too much with anything other than exos though, and on the arachnid side I only have a hate list ( FIREFRIES!!! )

Skinnie cheap infantry needs to be differentiated in terms of cost and ability.

Soldiers vs Raiders for example - same point cost, but apart from raiders being plastic and have a range of pistols, they have worse armour and no access to heavy weapons.

Hence I got two boxes of soldiers and only one box of raiders (and I've only used the soldiers).

If raiders were 15 points but had a small downgrade, they would be a viable choice compared to soldiers, and reflect their relative lack of military training.

The organisation of the skinnie list needs to be changed, so unless you are having a Brute list, you can have at least one of everything, with no limit on raiders. Then picking your general gives you unlimited access to certain types, or an additional x per thousand.

It means everyones armies can convert over, and everyone can use the skinnie walker or heavy speeder for example.

But hopefully this has already been resolved.

Raiders need access to a heavy weapon, but otherwise I find them to be one of the most effective units... also I find the plastic models to be rather nice, something they definitely shouldn't need to replace...

I wouldn't mind seeing the limit on their ambushers increased to 3...

They are very under-detailed. Compare them to any of the the metal raiders and the difference is glaring.

And compared to even 10-year old GW plastics, they're completely not up to par in terms of detail, options, or casting quality (I'm thinking of the old Eldar Guardians).

Probably why they are on the list for resculpts/replacement. :D

I find their simplicity to be better and sleeker than some of the clumpy super detailing you can find on say... soldiers. Which I think are not worth a penny... so it is partly taste.

But they are dirt cheap and plastic so I feel their flaws are outwieghed by efficiency.

A unit reduced to 1 hit may only take 1 action.

Meaning 1 kill results halves the effectiveness of the Mantis Hunter/Assassin... or 1 hit on a Guard Bug.

Its something I find good for large things like Brains Tankers and Marauders but for smaller units it is just obnoxious...

poor poor exosuits
