Useful / Favourite Feats?

@Jolly: no idea. ^^ Maybe find yourself in the emergency ward after sticking a sharp pointy thing in your thigh when trying to stab and kick at the same time.

Nice feats indeed, though I don't quite see why it's necessary to limit TWS to one use per round. After all, by that time you have expended at least three feats (ITWF, TWS and OHWE, given that you get TWF for free), just to be on par (for one attack) with a Greatsword wielder who, if Hyborian or Barbarian, needs no feat at all for the same damage.

Moreover, a pair of short swords still isn't equal to a Greatsword, since a short sword does d8 and a Greatsword does 2d10. Closest thing in the book would be War sword and short sword.

Of course, sometimes smaller weapons have their merits (in close spaces mainly), but still, spending three extra feats should give them _at least_ the power of a Greatsword/Bardiche wielder, and not less.

I agree. Spending three feats to achieve some degree of parity is ridiculous, that's a huge expenditure, and think about how the Greatsword guy still gets to have his 3 feats and what he can get with that!

Hi Clovenhoof!

The prerequisits aren't that stringent. For TWS it's BAB+3,TWF and Power Attack. For OHWE it's BAB+4 and DEX 13. So by 4th leval youre all set, with feats you either get for free or would take anyway.
Yes, two short swords would be equal to a tulwar at 2d8, but the extra damage from OHWE would push you into greatsword range. With the average damage being equal, or slightly higher at high levals.

Happy Hacking!

Thanks for the info, Valgrim.

Yup. Actually I'm now considering a house rule declaring TWS and OHWE as _standard_ TWF manoeuvres you can automatically get when you have TWF, without the need for an extra feat. And with ITWF (i.e. one extra feat) the number of your TWS attacks would only be limited by your BAB.

Let it be compatible with Great Cleave as well, and _then_ TWF should be roughly on par with THF. Or even slightly better, as you can choose to make up to 8 separate attacks per round -- but hey, that's the feat that you paid.

Might this be too much? Then again, where is it written that THF must be single most effective fighting style in the world?

Another nice feat from Hyboria's Fiercest is Savage Cleave. Makes Great Cleave much more useful. Lets you take 5 foot steps while using Great Cleave, but you have to be in Fighting Madness. You can keep taking 5 foot steps 'til you either fail to drop an opponent or run out of targets. The Crown Jewel of a Barbarian Hackmaster fighting style!

TWF+Kick requires for you to give up one of your regular armed attacks for the extra kick. You can't really get the extra kick on regular TWF without having Flurry of Blows; sorry.

Darn it all.

Flurry of Blows isn't in the Conan book is it? Neither is Deflect Arrows. Are they in a S&P?

Fighting-Madness is a pretty awesome feat for a barbarian.

Power Attack, Cleave and Great Cleave have all proven to be very powerful in my game, much more so than in D&D.

Toughness is pretty good.

Improved Intitiative is good for everyone in Conan.

Improved Grapple can be quite useful as was proven to me just the other day when the party of low-level PC's took out a high-level sorcerer just by holding him down and stabbing him to death (one grappler + one sneak-attacking friend = death).

Also, then you have the fun but maybe not so powerful stuff: Carouser, Sleep Mastery, Steely Gaze etc.
