We have posted two new downloads for the Universe of Babylon 5.

The first is an errata, but comes complete with a bonus scenario from the book's author, Lawrence Whitaker.

The second is a large sector map of the universe of Babylon 5.

You can find both here;

Thanks for these Matt.

At some point I'll check to see if the Jump routes match the old D20 network.

P.S. Narn Homeworld is Nar'Shal yeah?

P.P.S. I was going to ask if we could get a higher res of the system map than in the eratta, but that's what the map download is for, yeah?

P.P.P.S. Any particular reason Epsilon Eridani is badly misspelt on the big map?

Well I now have the book in my hands and I like it; and the speed which the errata appeared plus the free adventure (now where have I seen that before??? ) are all very gratifying.

But ... after reading through the sections on ships and vehicles I think I have found a few more “oversights” that hopefully can be fixed if there is a 2nd edition -

Thor Main Battle Tank [p89]
The text describes the binary BilPro cannon but this is not listed under the Weapons column in the Vehicle Table, in fact the weapon entered again the Thor is “Mounted PPG” but I cannot find that in any weapons list in the book.

Starfury Heavy Fighter: Aurora [p99-100]
In the game stats the ‘Fury is listed as having 2 x Pulse Cannons, but these are not on weapon list [p97]; there are Heavy, light, Mini and Uni pulse cannons, but nothing for a plain Pulse Cannon.
In the plans the pulse cannons shown on in the wrong places, the labels point to the engine mounts on the ends of the wings, not to the mounts on the wing roots as shown correctly on the pictures on p8.

Starfury Heavy Fighter: Thunderbolt [p101-102]
The text entry describes four linked pulse cannons and a forward facing laser beam. Pardon?! This weapon suite has never been shown in any other game incarnation (B5 d20, B5W) or seen on the show.
The game stats below list 2 x Pulse Cannons & 2 x Light Pulse Cannons (funny, just the same as an Aurora; cut and paste perhaps?), no mention of the beam laser here; and to cap it all the deck plans correctly show a Gatling pulse cannon.

Olympus Class Corvette [p110-114]
In the text and the game stats there is no mention of Interceptor / Defence grids?
Also the stats list Medium Pulse Cannon but again these weapons are not listed on the chart p97.

While none of these are “game-breaking” errors they are annoying and should have been caught before publication. I just hope that the next book will be proof read well, and by someone with a lot of B5 background, before it hits the shelves.

Sounds like the eratta needs to be added to to catch what Traveller 61 lists above.

I got the book at Salute yesterday, but haven't had a chance to read it yet.

There are even more d20 left overs. Early in the book, which I don't have in front of me, is a box of text at the bottom of the page referring to language use in the Babylon 5 universe. All the references in the box to understanding other languages refer to feats player characters should have. It is probably a cut and paste from the d20 rule set without anyone proofing it first.

Don't get me wrong, I love Babylon 5 and Traveller. Hell, I even kept my misprinted High Guard rather than returning it to Mongoose. But there are a bunch of errors in the Babylon 5 game, more than usually with the existing errata. With what I have found, and what others have found, the errata needs to be updated again.

Now that I am home, the boxed text with the feats and languages is on page 29.

Oh and I am pretty sure there is also an error between the weapon text and the subsequent chart on pg. 79. It states in the text that the EF7 PPG has 12 shots due to its greater efficiency. While the magazine indicates it can hold 12 shots, the actual ammo cost is for the 6 shot weapon. Does the military grade PPG use 2 six shot caps? I don't remember that on the show. Plus, it states clearly that the military grade PPG is more powerful than any civilian weapon, but other than holding 12 charges, it has the same stats as the civilian weapon.

I think that is all I can find at the moment.

Great Maker!!!

Matt, any chance we can get the eratta download updated to include fixes for all these other errors?

LBH

I'll second that call (and hope the promised PDF relese has them too).

I emailed Matt, pointed him at this thread and asked if we'd get an updated fix download, he said yes.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if I should point it out in an email or not.

A few questions;

1. Did the errata ever get updated with these corrections?

2. If it is redone at some time, is there any chance it can be done in the white backround as the UB5 is rather then the grey/blue fancy backround that is so much more expensive to print? I have become a fan of PDF's, but the more 'upscale' books/pages are too costly to print.

3. In what timeframe does the mission included with the errata take place? Is it early season 2 as is the rest of the UB5 book?

Thanks

Hi
I can not find any link to the PDF for Bab5 errata.

The PDF version of Babylon 5 has the errata included. There was a separate errata you could download but may not be available anymore.
