Uniform Colours

Incidently anyone know the various colours for the various imperial "arms"?

Red for Navy/Marines isn't it?
Red / Maroon for Marines, but otherwise there seems to be no official ans-
wer. I suspect that the Navy would use blue or black, and the Army what-
ever fits in with the environment, but most likely brown or green as their
standard colour. Scouts obviously wear whatever they like, the Scout Se-
curity are probably the only ones in any standard uniform - but I have no
idea what colour this uniform could be, the cover of GURPS Traveller First
In has scouts in grey-green fatigues.

Sorry, I meant the insignia...

I can see the Scouts in grey/green coveralls though... practical and functional...

Mind you, I can't really see the army as being too worried about camouflage, though, given the tech level - chances are you won't be able to hide anyhow, so as long as you don't stand out too badly, they probably won't be too upset... :)

To quote the Traveller wiki:
The original banner in the Imperial throne room is still black with a yellow
sunburst. The Imperial Interstellar Scout Service uses a red sunburst; the
Imperial Navy, yellow; the Imperial Army, black; the Imperial Marines,
maroon.

Several illustrations from the Classi/MegaTraveller eras depict Imperial Marines in maroon or dark red battledress (including the box of true 25mm miniatures that Grenadier released in the eighties).

IIRC, there was an adventure from the New Era period where some NPCs used relic battledresses (from the already defunct Third Imperium) and called themselves "Crimson Knights".

So, most people are going with maroon uniforms with maroon insignia? Not saying that's wrong, just clarifying.

In the artwork on the box from the Grenadier 25mm set, the armor looks lighter than I would call maroon. It seems to have an orange look. The scan posted matches my copy. BFalcon commented on the cardboard heroes being more crimson. With maroon insignia, a different shade of red would make sense.

Note that the "Dress" color for Imperial Marines is Maroon, but field uniforms will probably be different. Marine Battledress has been described as having a chameleonic surface. If the Marines are showing the flag, they'll be "go ahead, shoot at us; we dare you" Maroon. Otherwise the suits will be tuned to an appropriate camo scheme.

In Marine dress uniform, the Imperial Starburst may simply be a black outline, the same color inside as out.
