unconfirmed but Elric in August

Scroll down the page Elric and Elric screen listed in Aug. Hope this is true. I like the cover sort of reminds me of the Brom Elric.

Yes, I'll be getting the Elric book for sure - and hope it kicks off several Eternal Champion games. I also will buy Deus Vult and Chivalry and Sorcery as PDFs, I think. It's a shame that Conan isn't upcoming too, although there is still Lankhmar.

My only doubt is about Glorantha itself, actually. I do get that it's the default gameworld for RQ2, and has a history which is interesting. It just seems to be a line where you need to commit to it, as there is a volume of supplements for it - which seem quite essential in some ways. I'm not really that much into 'high fantasy' either - I prefer it to be a bit darker I guess, but then I could be just unselling myself by saying that.

Excellent - like the cover :)

Still disapointed Runequest is in B/W................

Look forward to hearing more about this

Interesting... It seems there will be a distinctive "look" to each series within the RuneQuest line (core books, DV, Glorantha, EC, and so on) but not to the line overall. I'm not sure how that will work from a marketing standpoint. Look at D&D: they keep a consistent look across the whole range. If I was at my FLGS looking for RQ, would I know that all of this was the same game? I hope the marketing people know what they're doing.

I also really do hope the editing problems have been dealt with and we can expect consistency and no errors, no changes, from here on. That has been a top issue in getting people to adopt this game.

I assume there will be a RuneQuest II logo on each of these books, but each are their own setting, unconnected to the others, so I'd expect each to have their own 'look'.

It actually fits with the Mongoose ethos of Core Books (reasonably plain covers) and settings (something reflecting the setting). Same ethos is there in the Traveller line (black covers for the core books, colourful ones for the Third Imperium and 2000ad lines). So, from a marketing and identity perspective, its consistent.

Don't take this the wrong way... but I wasn't aware 2000 AD was part of the Traveller line. Thought it was a separate rule set.

Both Dredd and Strontium Dog use the Traveller core rules. No need to feel embarrassed for not knowing that though!

:)

Loz, I think he may be taking a jab at the lack of a recognizable product lineage linking Traveller and the two settings (Stontium Dog and Judge Dredd).

:)

Cheers
Rusty

Point taken,

but the descriptions of both books on the website note that Traveller is the required rule-set...

We are very much aware of this - all future Traveller settings books will have the Traveller logo very prominent on the front cover. We just did not want to detract anything from the nice covers we had done for Dredd and SD (a mistake, in hindsight).

Well now the release date's confirmed to be around August.

Wonder if the 'runic' magic system uses the grimoire system as in RQII - would certainly fit in with the style of the magic portrayed in the Elric novels seeing as Elric calls upon the use of sorcery a lot from memorised rotes from grimoires.

Runes are in there, but don't use the grimoire system. Elric sorcery is very different to Core RQ - however guidance is given on how, and when, to use the core RQ magic systems in Elric games.

Im thinking that art might be a 'placeholder' type of deal? I hope so, it looks a little weak to me...certainly not as accomplished as the first edition cover.Seems very sub-Brom.

There, Ive been gone a while and I come back and whinge about cover art again. :) Im looking forward to the new book though.
