Type E Class Escort

Cosmic Mongoose
Hey Dan, finally got the guns on it. Might call it a Garuda Class...

Some other tweaks (intakes, sensors etc) and a pair a Rampart 'friendlies' with the pointy noses in the shot.

Enjoy

Wow. I'm having TTA flashbacks.

Can't help it, those books are responsible for alot of things.... I got a copy of the Spacecraft book when I was 8... and I've always wanted to do stuff like that...

Looks great.

I'm not much or an aerospace engineer, but to me (how they come across to me) it looks like the wings are too far back. Not sure that it flies in the face of current aerodynamic theory and air craft design, but other than that nicely done.

Not a big deal unless you are fighting a lot in atmos. Really, you wouldn't want any wings on a high G space craft.

I think the only reason they may keep wings on "space" ships is for more options for weapon and sensor placements. Plus maybe for dual purpose space and planet side operations, depending on TL and how good Grav tech is.

If that is a 'purely outside atmo' vessel, why wings at all?

If it is a 'purely outside atmo fighter' why any wings? You don't have intertidal propulsion do you? BSG (reboot) had it right, watch the pilot/4-hr premier. Maneuver jets in the nose and elsewhere... flipping the Viper over to be pointing BACKWARDS while the engines were still going but firing at the bad guys chasing them.

The only reason Vipers had 'wings' is because they were also designed for 'in-atmo' operations too.

Just points, you can design what you want, but if it makes me tilt my head to one side and go "ruuhhh?" then I have to ask.

Nice pick, although the black sections cause me to not get the full line of the ship (shape) against that dark background.

Looks ok to me, mind you my screen is quite bright... still if could be worth doing a lighter shot with some friendlies....

ROFL! And here I was about to say that it must have been intentional as anti-boarding party camouflage.

See camo does work in space... ;)
Yeah, while I was in the Air Force we weren't allowed to buy green furniture, carpet or wall paint... Because if we did the officers would never find us in our cammo uniforms! *grin*

Me Too!!!

I also got ELO "Out of the Blue" the same Christmas.
A picture of the Hornet pops into my mind whenever I hear "Mr.Blue Sky".
Sometimes the Tarranchula with its subatomic particle oscillators (SAPO's)

Mr Blue Sky always makes me smile.

TTA, like I've said I can't help it and its intentional. Its not just the TTA stuff, its the sort of 70s - 80s paperback cover art thing,

Grey ships are just a little dull.

Got ELO "Out of the Blue" the same day I got the TTA book and I still see a picture of the "Hornet" in my mind whenever I hear "Mr. Blue Sky".

Looking at this picture, my mind is going... "The sun is shining in the sky. There ain't a cloud in site..."

Awesome work! You ARE doing it...
