Two questions about Apocalypse Z

Hey all, the concept of Apocalypse Z intrigues me. That it's from Mongoose Publishing less so... no offence to anyone i haven't bought anything from Mongoose since me and my friends invested quite a bit in the original Battlefield Evolution... and we know how that turned out.

1. Does the Apocalypse Z book contain all rules needed to play? Or is it just an expansion book and requires other books.

2. So ordering a book from Mongoose Publishing brings up some vietnam flashbacks. I remember when i first got the Battlefield Evolution rulebook it was so horribly printed the pages practicly fell out when i opened it. Got a replacement which also fell apart by looking at it (at which time i stopped caring and printed a version myself).

My friend got his copy and well... let's just say that it wasn't of better quality.

HOWEVER i remember that this was just when they got their own printer and started doing stuff so while its not an excuse that the book was of terrible quality i suppose its an explanation. The question is did Mongoose ever get their printing in order? Can i trust the book not to disintegrate when i look at it?

Ive also heard bad things about older MGP books and saw one fall apart. My version of Z ive had almost 6th months and its still together tho (and Im always flipping through it for stuff).

As far as the rules, most are in there for Z but you do have to have the basics of Evo to play. I picked up Z first and then realized I had to hunt down the cheat sheet for Evo to learn the basics.

Does Battlefield Evolution: World at War work?

Not exactly, but i guess it could. Evo Z is set in a somewhat modern setting so you'd need to get the modern rules for the units battling the zombies other than the ones listed. But EvoZ has no rules in it for the game.

Does Battlefield Evolution: World at War work?

World at War will work perfectly for the rules, the rule section of Modern and WaW is in fact the same.
Only the army list and some advanced rules are different.

Well, yes. The rules WILL work the same. However, there is an option for using the modern units in Modern WAW at a +50% points increase. As the Apocalypse Z rules were specifically designed to go with the Modern rules, this doesn't apply to the WAW rules. If you wanted WW2 units vs. Zombies, you'd have to play around with the points a bit. I believe someone on the Exploding Goat forum mentioned a rough figure of around +25%, but this was only rough. Personally, although I have both sets of rules, I only use the Modern WAW with Apocalypse Z!

Ah, there is a misunderstanding, I was talking about the rules only, not the army lists. As far as the army lists are concerned you are absolutely right. If you want Zombies in WW2 I would recommend WaW plus my Gear Krieg supplement...
