Looks like more adventure coming up.

Next month I will be working on Tripwire, a campaign for Traveller set in the Spinward Marches. This will be full of conspiracy and intrigue so looking forward to that one as well.

Further details:

I have been well and truly immersed in the Traveller universe of late. Tripwire was completed a few weeks ago – a campaign is set in the Jewell subsector that thrusts the players into a world of intrigue, conspiracy and danger. However, it is more than just a campaign as the story takes the players to every system in Jewell, so the book also serves as a sort of “Rough Guide to Jewell Subsector”.

Sounds good!

I hope it retains the internal consistency that is neccesary for this type of adventure?

The whole Jewell sector sounds ambitious - does that mean that the adventure material for each location will be minimal?

What is the overall structure of the adventure material? Does it use the EPIC system?

Each system has details on the main world(s) including a brief history, laws and places of interest. The scenarios on each world vary - some are small, some are big, but they all form part of the campaign.

And something actually original for a change, too?
LOL Don't you sometimes wish that all the conspirators would, y'know, pick a more healthy career, like knitting? :)

Then the adventurers show up. "And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for them lousy kids!" :D

One specific world is of interest to me: Esalin.

Are there sufficient gaps in Esalin's history (not to mention other worlds in the subsector) to enable me to insert something of mine into the setting without contradicting canon?

Esalin, and its neighbour Chwistyoch next door in Consulate space; but mostly Esalin.

I wasn't that interested in this adventure when it was first announced, but if it has a good description of the Jewell subsector, I just might have to pick it up.

So long as the next adventure is the Lonely Planet guide to another sector...I always like to check out the cheap sleeps & eats in a Lonely Planet guide appropiately called - The Bottom End...I don't know the LP are so Traveller for me...outlining vast tracks of culture, society, politics.

Rough Guides are good but they don't have the really gritty things that a LP does. Anyhow, I can hardly wait for Tripwire and further offerings of MGT that break new ground.

Sounds intruiging.
But thinking about it, I am finding hard to picture an adventure from what you described - I hear scenes (very micro) and a campaign (very macro) but am wondering about what lies in the middle scale and ties them together?

Sounds like a perfect candidate for EPIC - scenes in lots of places, many are sidebars but key scenes in key places which form the core plot.

The subsector's nicknamed "Santanocheev's Tripwire" in the OTU.

At some point Santanocheev found himself quoting Picard in First Contact: "They invade our space and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And *I* will make them pay for what they've done."

And after a moment's thought, he probably continued "And no, I will not blow up the damned ship either."

The border at Jewell subsector is considered to be the most critical part of any palms-up Zhodani military operation. If anything happens, and the Zhos want to try it on with the Impies, there is where the hammer is likely to fall.

So this place is full of listening posts and souped up fleet pickets, hanging in space for weeks on end, sensors pointed towards Zho space, monitoring ...

That's how things are in the subsector: one side glaring at the other across a wall of void, and Esalin like Checkpoiint Charlie right smack bang in the middle, where all the diplomats come along for their customary gift giving and mutual prisoner exchanges ...

If nothing more it will be interesting to see how Mongoose defines the different systems and wraps it all together. Remember it is all resource material and needs every individual GM to come along and add more details for their own campaign to flush it all out.

I look forward to it's coming out, but then I have to have it ..."All"!!!

Can we know what kind of group of player characters will be appropriate for this campaign? Pretty please ?

Any limitations to the balance military / agents / civilians ? Patriots to the Imperium or independant minded is ok ? With or without their own ship ? Any other specification ?

I may be starting a group soon, and if so intend to get them into Tripwire ASAP as it looks like what I was waiting for. So this kind of information would be very usefull, thanks.

There will be fighting but the campaign is not combat oriented. Stealth, investigation & negotiation skills will also be needed, so you a balanced party is recommended.

Some, if not all, of the party should already be an established group (be they mercenaries, traders etc.) and have their own Jump 2 capable ship, but the start of the campaign does allow for new characters to join the group. Most of your players should also have some loyalty to the Imperium.

Hope this helps :)

It does, thank you very much!

Now all I need to do is keep the players occupied until then.

Any update on when this will be out? What I need most at the moment are some time saving scenarios. I generally create my own game plots, etc. but that takes a lot of time in my time-pressured life.
