HELLO!

Perousing the professional options for PCs from the Earth Tribes I've found out that there are no "noble" options - because the barbarian background isn't listed on the prereqs for the "noble profession." Is this right? How do you handle the Tribes' nobles/leaders, then?

Thanks!

I take it that most of the options are for the Tribal Style of warrior from the old D20 system. These are farmers, fishermen, blacksmiths etc who have "day jobs" and normally only take up arms for the occasional cattle raid, a tribal muster or in defence of their homes.
The Noble style of warriors are those characters who choose either the mercenary or soldier careers.
I normally assume that one fifth to one quarter of a settlements population are combat capable. Of these, one tenth are professional warriors in the sevice of the local chieftain/King.
500 villagers=roughly 100-125 warriors of which 10 or 12 are of the noble warrior type. This probably includes the Chieftain/King and any sons(and occasionally daughters) of fighting age plus his chief retainers and their sons/daughters.
I normally make the leader and his retainers Veteran ranked characters and the sons and daughters, a 50/50 mixture of Seasoned and Novice ranks. The extra cash available to veteran and seasoned ranks makes affording good equipment fairly easy.
Hope this helps. :)
